QA-Production Procedures to ensure that the manufacturing and handling process is

quality assured are documented in “Kvalitetshandboken” (Manual for quality assurance). This includes i.a. procedures for handling raw material and ready products, technical manuals, cleaning procedures, handling of rework and documentation of checks of control points. The procedures are approved by QA. Records of produced batches are kept minimum 5 years.

HACCP Our HACCP system is a part of our quality assurance certification.

competence including members from quality, production and maintenance. Our risk analysis covers biological, physical, chemical and allergen risks. Also (Food fraud) vulnerability and threats are considered. The HACCP plan is verified yearly. Only low-risk products are handled at Engelhardt. For production of powder product in bulk (including big bags and bags) we have two critical control points (CCP:s); - loading ingredients (correct ingredient is loaded into blender) - labelling (correct label, which covers correct ingredient declaration). We also have oPRP/VICP; sieve, metal detector, cleaning of blender (when change of allergens). For packaging of powder product in consumer packages we have the following CCP:s ; -connecting bulk package to packaging machine (correct product will be loaded into packaging machine) -correct label on the consumer package (ensuring correct ingredient declaration) - cleaning of packaging machine (when change of allergens) And the following oPRP/VICP : deliver of ordered product to packaging line. Production of nut containing products is made in a special separated nut department. This includes mixing and packaging in consumer packages. GMO Engelhardt has no written policy on the use of GMO. But our practice is

that no GMO derived products are stored in the ware house nor used in the production at our site. GMO derived products may be sold by Engelhardt, but then only for direct transport to the customer.

Allergens Engelhardt´s HACCP plans cover the ingredients defined as allergens

by current EU legislation and the allergen pea. The following allergens are handled at Engelhardt head factory in Västra Frölunda: soya, milk (milk protein and lactose), egg, sesame seed, gluten, celery, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, and pea.

On the site there is also the separated Nut department (see below) where nuts are handled in addition to the other allergens mentioned. Engelhardt has a quality system in place (including the HACCP system) that prevents cross-contamination of these allergens. This system includes as main steps; - risk assessment of allergens of all raw material - physical/time segregation - scheduling of production - special cleaning procedures - control of cleaning - random analyses of allergens - regular training of production and ware house staff

Nuts The head factory is a nut free facility.

Engelhardt has in 2017 (spring) started a separate production unit, where nuts are used as ingredients. This unit is situated in a separate building on the same fenced area as the head office and factory/ware house. The unit has separate entrance and goods delivery/ loading. Storage of raw materials, blending, packing and storage of ready products are all within the nut unit area. The unit includes a blender and a packing line for consumer packages. The unit has a special eating facility area and dressing room. Several procedures are in force to assure that the nut free status of the head factory is kept. The staff is specially appointed and trained handling both production and ware house functions. Only authorised staff is allowed to enter the nut department. Special shoes and garments are used and all visitors use special protective clothing and shoe covers. All products produced within the nut department are marked “may contain traces of nuts”

Gluten free/ Lactose free/ Low lactose products

Engelhardt, Västra Frölunda has a system in place for the production and packaging of food products claimed to be gluten free /and lactose free/ low lactose. The procedures for the manufacture of these products are documented and staff gets special training. Analyses of the allergen (gluten or lactose) are made on each batch or on every sequence of batches or randomly, in agreement with customer.

Traceability Engelhardt has traceability one step back and one step forward.

We trace our products using article number and batch number. For trading products, our article number and the suppliers batch/lot number are used. For produced batches every batch number of each single ingredient and packaging material is noted. Both raw materials and packaging material in contact with food product is traceable.

Batch Every produced batch has a unique batch number. Engelhardt’s batch number is structured as follows: YDDDBXXX; Y-number of year (2013=3), DDD-day number (16

May=136), B-Blender identity, XXX-serial number) A pallet may contain products with more than one batch number. Bulk batches are defined as the net quantity blended in one machine/ production line. The quantity may vary from (approx.) 500- 1500 kg Consumer package batches are defined as the whole quantity packaged for one customer order, which might include several bulk batches and several days.

Glass and brittle material policy

If possible, we avoid glass, hard plastic or other brittle material in our production or warehouse. Since no acceptable options have been found, all windows and lamps in production are splitter protected. All glass and brittle material are listed and inspected regularly. Any deviation is dealt with immediately. Cell phones used in production area have to be protected with plastic.

Laboratory

Engelhardt has an internal laboratory where sensory, chemical and microbiological analyses are carried out. We offer following analyses: Chemical: protein, moisture, fat, pH Microbiological: Standard Plate Count, Enterobactericeae, Yeast, Mould and Salmonella. *E.Coli and Coliforms may be analysed on special agreement. All analyses are made according standardized methods. Performance is checked several times per year in achievement tests.

control on flying insects, creeping insects and rodents). - access to specialist knowledge. - resources to rapidly respond to infestation issues. - trend analyses and a yearly in-depth analyses and a review of the control measures in place. The control measures are decided based on a risk assessment. The pest control stations (both inside and outside the buildings) are marked on a site map.

Chemical controls All chemicals are listed.

All chemicals are stored in locked cupboards when they are not used. Smaller quantities for daily/ frequent use are stored in dedicated places. Only food approved lubricants are used.

Control of water Water is not used as an ingredient. Water is only used for cleaning

purposes. Blending machines are normally not cleaned with water inside. The used water is approved for drinking.

Waste disposal Engelhardt has a contract with an external waste company that

regularly, or on demand, takes care of the waste. The waste is sorted. Waste in production is daily or more frequently removed.

Internal audit Engelhardt has a team of externally formal trained competent internal

auditors, including staff from production, quality, product development, purchase and administration. Activities that influence the implementation of our quality system are audited once a year based on a risk assessment. Reports, including non-conformities are made and communicated to audited personnel and quality manager. The result is documented in a report in addition to the specially documented non-conformities. The audits are carried out by personnel independent from the audited department.

Complaints and non-conformities

Engelhardt has a system for recording and investigating product complaints and internal non-conformities. Root cause analyses are made when food safety is at risk or non-conformities are repeated. Continuous improvement work is an important part of our quality work.

Recall process Recall process and responsibilities are clearly defined in our quality

manual. The process is tested once a year. Responsible for that the test is made and the follow-up is the quality manager. Three real recalls has taken place within the last 5 years. 2016, 2018 and 2019 all of them due to metal foreign objects in raw materials.

Security and Food defence

Engelhardt: Only authorised personnel are permitted to enter our production and ware house facilities. Records are kept for visits. There is a surveillance system, entrance to site is only possible through the reception (locked door) and the warehouse office, which only is open when staff is present. Entrance to the production facility and store area; door is locked and need to be opened by a company pass or with code or key. Several doors (for example to the changing facilities) within the site are locked and need to be opened with pass. Each opening with pass is registered. After normal working hours the pass and a code is required. A procedure is in place for yearly evaluation of food defence. The awareness of food defence is a part of the continuous training of the staff.

PERSONNEL AND HYGIENE Hygiene rules Procedures for personal hygiene are clearly defined in our quality

manual. To enter production; protecting clothing, hairnet, special shoes or shoe covers must be used. Beard cover is requested when working with open product. Washing and disinfection of hands are compulsory.

Protective clothing Only protective clothing provided by the company is allowed in the

production area. The clothes of the production staff are changed 1-2 times a week or when necessary. T-shirt is changed after every allergen cleaning. Special rules exist for clothing when “free from- products” are produced. The clothes are washed by an external authorised laundry company which makes controls on effective cleaning. In addition Engelhardt makes random checks on washed clothes.

Dressing room Production and warehouse staff have their own double wardrobe: one

for private clothes and belongings, and one for work wear. There are also separated cupboards for cleaned clothes.

Jewellery policy In production and warehouse it is not allowed to wear jewellery,

watches, visible piercing and/or similar loose objects that are a risk for contamination of the products.

Training All new employees are introduced according a specific program

adapted to the tasks. Training essential for food safety and quality assurance is documented and signed. All staff in production, warehouse and laboratory involved in CCP control has, as a minimum, had an introduction about allergens, hygiene and key terms in HACCP and our quality assurance system. A training course on these subjects is given for all production and warehouse personnel yearly. The course is followed by a test for all participants.

The need of training of personnel in order to secure product safety, legality and quality is monitored yearly. A training programme is set if considered relevant.

Visitors Visitors to production and ware house area are only permitted access

when accompanied by one of our employees. No visitors are aloud in the nut unit. Hygiene rules for visitors are documented in a leaflet. All visitors have to read and sign that they have read the rules. Contract workers receive information about our hygiene and quality regulations before being allowed access. Visitors have to sign that they do not have any disease that may endanger food safety, before entering production and ware house.

Smoking and snuff policy Not allowed in Engelhardt's factory area. (Production and warehouse).

Smoking within the plant area is only allowed out-doors at dedicated places.

Food and catering facilities The eating facility is separated from the production area. No

consumption of food, snacks, drink etc. is allowed in production area or warehouse. Nuts of any kind are prohibited to bring into the eating facility area.

Medical screening

Engelhardt has a health programme for staff, including health control every second year and access to medicine care if necessary. Staff is urged to make controls, if visits have been made to areas with risk of contagious diseases that may endanger food safety.

Occupational health and safety at work

Engelhardt has a system of safety officers -persons appointed responsible for the safety in the working place per department (so called “skyddsombud”, as defined in Swedish law) Regular inspections of each department are made by the head safety officer, the safety representative of the department and a representative of Engelhardt. Notes are taken of non–conformities and measures and followed up.

SUPPLIERS/ RAW MATERIALS Supplier approval procedure All suppliers are risk assessed and approved or not.

In order to become an authorised supplier to Engelhardt, the supplier has to fill in and sign a supplier assessment form and send requested documents. Companies may send their own documentation if essential issues are covered. The information is evaluated, if necessary more information is asked for, and then the supplier is approved or not. For suppliers who are certified against a standard which is GFSI approved, a valid certificate is enough to be approved unless it is a high risk production and more information is considered necessary for risk assessment.

Issues that are judged are, for instance, quality management system, HACCP, hygiene routines, traceability, allergen management, procedures for detection and removal of foreign bodies. Suppliers are also asked to comply with and sign Engelhardt Code of conduct for suppliers. Suppliers who have a Code of Conduct of its own, which covers Engelhardts requirements, are not requested to sign. The suppliers are continuously monitored and reassessed within a period of maximum three years. Audits of suppliers are made when Engelhardt judges that there are food safety hazards or risks for considerable variation in quality. For example - no external certification of food quality system is available - products with known quality or food hazard problems - earlier experienced deficiencies

Raw material approval procedure

All raw materials and packaging are risk assessed. Factors considered are i.al. : Risks for allergen contamination, microbiological contamination, chemical contamination, occurrence of foreign bodies, food fraud and food defense.

LOGISTICS Warehouse All storage is indoors. In the warehouse packages are sealed.

Raw materials and manufactured products are mainly stored in different areas in the same building. We have an IT-based warehouse management system. In the system there are four different classification; Main stock (huvudlager), Quarantine stock (karantänslager), Derating stock (nedklassningslager) and Disposal stock (kassationslager). Stocks (real and virtual) are different for the Nut unit. Only approved products are available at the main stock.

Stock rotation The principle “First In – First Out” or rather “First Expired- First Out” is

used as far as possible. This means that if considerable time is saved, while still maintaining good quality and requested remaining shelf life, the FEFO/FIFO principle is not 100% used.

Procedures for incoming goods

At unloading, all goods are visually inspected. Responsible staff controls that we receive certificate of analysis or certificate of conformity for incoming goods. A risk assessment is made on every raw material and a list is made of risk products and required controls.

Risk products are registered in quarantine stock at arrival. Relevant controls are made and/or samples of risk products are taken and analysed before release.

Transport External transport companies are contracted for all transports and meet

Engelhardts requirements for forwarders. All trucks are inspected before loading. There are procedures in place to control that transports are in clean and neat conditions, free from strong odors and appropriately maintained. The control is documented.

Marking of goods and pallets Products produced by Engelhardt have labels with article name, article

number, batch number, production date, best before date, net weight and ingredients. Trading products have their original label from the producer. A pallet may contain products with more than one batch number, unless otherwise agreed. Standard marking of pallets is address label and consignment note. Additional labelling and documents are possible after agreement.

ENVIRONMENT Policy Our “ Miljöpolicy”(In Swedish) is included in Engelhardts

“Uppförandekod” (Code of conduct) Environmental impact of Engelhardts operation

Engelhardt only manufacture and package dry powder and dry food products. No heating, no added water and no chemical reactions are included in the process. Water is used to a very limited extent for cleaning. Thus the impact on the environment of the manufacture process itself is small. Transports of raw material and products have the biggest impact on the environment. Heating of buildings and waste also contribute to the impact on the environment.

External control Engelhardt is controlled by Miljöförvaltningen Göteborgs Stad

(Municipal Environment and Health Protection, city of Gothenburg) Miljöförvaltningen (local authority) has decided that no special controls are to be made. There is no local legislation concerning environmental issues which applies to the activities of Engelhardt.

Environmental Management System

Engelhardt is not certified. Environmental targets Each year a number of environmental targets are set up and the result

is evaluated yearly. Everybody is urged to give suggestions. The targets are decided by the senior management and communicated to all staff.

Waste Waste is sorted.

Plastics are sent for reuse. Derated goods are sent to be used as feed or for biogas production.

Sustainable electricity Engelhardt´s use of electricity is bought as sustainable energy.

Sustainable palm oil Engelhardt is a member of RSPO (Supply chain associate membership

number : 9-1129-15-000-00) Engelhardt buys, through the RSPO credits system, certificates for all palm and palm kernel oil, and ingredients thereof, handled at Engelhardt.

Organic products/production Engelhardt is certified for organic production, both according to EC No

834/2007 and KRAV (private standard for organic production which also includes element of Fair trade and Environmental requirements) Please see webpage

ETHICS AND SUSTAINABILITY

Code of conduct Engelhardt has documented ethical rules since 2005 and has a Code

of conduct (Uppförandekod) since Februari 2016. The document (in Swedish) is available on our webpage. Compulsory signing of Engelhardts Code of conduct for suppliers or control of suppliers own Code of Conduct has been started in 2014. Since 2011 Engelhardt is a member of CSR Västsverige. CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility. The membership gives support and help to work for a sustainable development for people and the environment, locally and globally. Engelhardt is a member of SEDEX : member (B) no S000000061801.

Fair Trade – UTZ Engelhardt is registered by UTZ and complies with the Chain of

Custody Standard requirements. Engelhardt has a license for coffee and for cocoa. Please see webpage

Product specifications of products produced at Engelhardt contain information on for example: product description, instructions for use, ingredients, nutritional values and microbiological status (when relevant), allergens, GMO status, description of packaging, shelf life, target group and other information that is important for food safety and compliance with food legislation. Product specifications for traded goods may be the producer´s or one made by Engelhardt. Producer´s product specification may vary in content. All supplied products are according the product specifications. All our registered customers can find the last updated product specification on our website, on my pages/mina sidor; See http://engelhardt.se/mina-sidor/ Registered customers will get an email when a product specification is updated, (for products they buy). A customer may register several email-addresses for this purpose. All product specifications are reviewed every three years or when changes are made. Information on products bought within 500 days are available The form of information on customer specific consumer products area is agreed with the customer.

Quality Control All produced products are controlled according to a predetermined

analysis schedule. The performed analyses, the limit values and the frequency are determined through a risk analysis and, where appropriate, set according to product agreement with customer.

Reference samples A reference sample from every product manufactured by Engelhardt or

packed is kept minimum the shelf life. CoA or CoC Certificate of Analysis/Conformity is available on agreement included in

the commercial agreement. Allergens See product specification. GMO See product specification. Residues and contaminants See product specification. Irradiation The products have not been irradiated or subjected to disinfection by

irradiation, neither during production nor prior to sale.

Engelhardt is affiliated to FTI, the Swedish recycle system for packaging. The affiliated companies pay fees which finances the recycling system.

Pallets In our production EUR wooden pallets are used as standard. Plastic

pallets and other wooden pallets are used on agreement. For trading products the EUR wooden pallet are most common, but other type of pallets may occur.
