Substance Education and Responsibility
Annual averages for college students between 18 and 24 in the U.S.:
• 2.8 million report driving while intoxicated (DWI)• 1,825 unintentional alcohol-related deaths• 690,000 students are assaulted by another
student who has been drinking• 97,000 reported victims of sexual assault and
rape• 599,000 unintentional injuries• Estimated 27% of college dropouts are because of
alcohol• Between 1.2% and 1.5% report attempted suicide
within past year due to alcohol or drug use- National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and
Alcoholism, 2013
