Thank you Deacon John Contino It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of Deacon John Contino. My emotions are mixed because I will miss his joyful and faithful presence in the parish, yet at the same time I am happy for John because this will allow him the opportunity to spend more time at home with his wife Cindy, and his children and grandchildren. John has faithfully served the Diocese of Camden for over 15 years as a Deacon and our parish was blessed to have him for over 3 years. Besides his service at Mass, Deacon John led our Baptismal Prep program and he and his wife Cindy started the Parish Bereavement Group that touched the hearts of many grieving the loss of loved ones. Deacon John helped me with the Catholic Strong Campaign and was a faithful presence at all of our parish events. A married Deacon does not serve alone, so I thank John’s wife Cindy for her faithfulness and prayerful presence in the parish. Although retired from his assignment with our parish, John remains a deacon and will continue to help his home parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Turnersville when called upon. Deacon John and Cindy, thank you for your service to our Parish and to the Church of Camden. Please know that you have enriched our lives and that our love and friendship continues. God Bless you and your family,

Fr. Vince

Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, Padre Vicente

Stewardship: Stewardship Living

“…whoever does not take up his cross and follow after

me is not worthy of me.” MATTHEW 1O:38 Pope Benedict XVI said “The world offers you comfort. But you were not made for comfort, you were made for greatness”. “Comfort” puts me first. “Picking up your cross and following Jesus” puts God and oth-ers first. Why settle for comfort when you can achieve greatness! Pick up your cross, ask Jesus for guidance on using your gifts in Stewardship and living the life God intended for you!

Christian Hospitality:

Day in and day out, we are required to make judg-ment calls informed by tough, durable, serviceable Christian love. We do what we can do, and God takes notice. God is in charge of rewards, and a glass of water will do when that is what we have to offer with a glad and open heart. Paul gives us a clear theology for the missionary work we do when-ever anybody is close at hand. He reminds us that our work, our ministry, is carried on in concert with Christ. We have been baptized into his death and life. In any given moment both life and death are there, a kind of play of shadow and light. Some-times it’s difficult to tell where shadow leaves off and light begins. God will take care of that, too.

Daily Prayer Messages:

Would you like to receive short prayers or reflections daily? It is a nice way to begin your day. Please call the Parish Office @ 856-627-2222 with your email address. Several lines are available in case more than one adult in your home wants to be on the list. Your information is protected and will not be shared with other entities.

Prayer for Priestly Vocations: Lord Jesus, we ask you to bless the Diocese of Camden with an increase in vocations to the priesthood. We pray that young men from our parishes and families will hear your call and be both generous and courageous in their response. May more young men serve you as priests who teach the faith, preach the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments and make you present among us through their ministry. Encourage them to embrace the joy-filled and fulfilling life of a diocesan priest. May parents support priestly vocations in their families by prayer and good example. We entrust these prayers through Mary Immaculate, our patroness, hopeful that you will bless our diocese with more priest in the near future, who live and reign forever and ever. AMEN.

South Jersey Catholic Cemeteries: We Are Here For You:

The cemetery offices remain open to serve our families during this extraordinary time and health emergency. As essential facilities, we continue to operate as near normal as possible. Following social distancing guidelines set by Executive Order 107 (2020), drop-in office visits are discouraged. The safety and health of our staff, visitors and families continues to be our priority which is why we ask you to please call 855-697-7375 or your local cemetery office if you need assistance or have questions. Much business can be handled over the phone, by email or through the USPS mail, and our staff will be happy to assist you in this fashion. You also may make an appointment to come into the office, if necessary. Some folks are finding comfort in planning for their final resting place knowing that in case something happens this burden will not fall on their loved ones. We are here to help and serve you.

A message from Deacon John: As you know I had been sick for a few months and I wish to thank you for all your prayers, cards, and messages that were sent to me. I felt all the prayers and truly appreciated them. This is a great parish, especially in times of need where we come together to pray and care for each other. However, due to my situation, I have decided to retire from active ministry for health reasons. I am 73 years old and requested from Bishop Sullivan an early retirement which he granted to me, effective June 30th. This decision was hard to make, but I feel, at this time, it is best for me to do so. It was a privilege to min-ister in this parish and I can’t say enough of what I think of all of you. I want to thank you for allowing me to serve you these past three plus years. God Bless you, and again THANK YOU. Yours in Christ,
