The Certificate in Foundation Studies (CFS) is a foundationcourse for students who do not meet the minimum entryrequirement needed for the full-time Kaplan Diploma study.

The Professional Business English Programme (PBEP)offered by Kaplan Higher Education Academy is designed todevelop non-native English speakers English language skillsin preparation for successful entry into their mainstreamacademic programme of study.
Students who are unable to meet the English prociency entrystandards for Kaplan diploma programme (i.e. IELTS 5.5, TOEFLIBT 65-78 or a pass in GCE O level English or equivalent) arerequired to take the PBEP programme and attain at least apassing grade.
PBEP programme concentrates on developing the skills
students will need to become a successful and condentlanguage user. Emphasis is placed on improving generallanguage skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Students are assessed regularly with weekly reviews, writingtasks, practice tests and a nal examination. Participation andclassroom use of English are also taken into consideration. Thisprogramme is based in the classroom with some excursionsand activities which take students out into the community to
use the language they have learnt.

i sThe Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) ofSingapore requires all foreign students to hold a validstudent pass for their full-time study in Singapore, aminimum of 90% attendance must be attained.
etKaplan Higher Education Academy has achievedEduTrust Certification. As required by the Council
for Private Education (CPE), it has put in placemandatory requirements which include feeprotection scheme, medical insurance coverage andthe use of a standard PEI-student contract.
fee Poecio sceme (fPs)Under the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS), KaplanHigher Education Academy has put in place aninsurance arrangement that ensures fees paidby students to the school are insured by LonpacInsurance Bhd, a CPE appointed service provider.The insurance protection serves to protect thestudents fees in the event a Private Education
Institution (PEI) is unable to continue operationsdue to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure.Furthermore, the FPS protects the student if the PEIfails to pay penalties or return fees to the studentarising from judgments made against it by theSingapore courts. The FPS is compulsory for alllocal and international students taking courses atPEIs seeking EduTrust certification. FPS appliesto all courses with duration of more than 1 monthor 50 hours. Students enrolled in these courseswill be required to pay a fee for FPS which variesdepending on the fees of the courses insured.
m iKaplan Higher Education Academy has put in placemedical insurance under which all its students(except those specifically allowed to opt out under
EduTrust certification guidelines) will be coveredfor hospitalisation, outpatient and related medicaltreatment for the entire course duration. AXAInsurance Singapore Pte Ltd has been appointedas the insurance provider. The fee payable for theentire duration of the course is indicated in the feeschedule of the student contract.s/pr n-stp Students who are already covered by their ownmedical insurance plan (with an annual limit notless than S$20,000) may be exempted from theplan provided by Kaplan Higher Education Academy.Students signing a new PEI-student contract can opt
out from the medical insurance coverage by indicatingin the contract and providing a copy of their medicalinsurance policy. CPE has mandated that studentswho opt out must produce their medical insurancepolicy for verication by the PEI. Kaplan Higher
Education Academy will only exempt students whosubmit a copy of their medical insurance policy foropting out.
s s cIt is a mandatory requirement by the CPE that allstudents, both local and international, sign thestudent contract with Kaplan Higher Education
Academy upon the acceptance of the offer madeby Kaplan Higher Education Academy during theadmission process. (Note: Student contract will not berequired for non-award programmes with a duration ofless than 50 hours or 1 month). The student contractserves to minimize future disputes and hence, has tobe completely understood by students prior to makecourse fee payment.Please refer to CPE website (www.cpe.gov.sg) fordetails on EduTrust, fee protection scheme, medicalinsurance coverage and standard PEI-student contract.

reFund policy
Kaplan Higher Education Academy shall inform thestudent immediately within 3 working days if:
i. It fails, for any reason, to commence the course in
the course commencement date.ii. It terminates the course, for any reason, prior to
the course commencement date.iii. It fails, for any reason, to complete the course by
the course completion date.iv. It terminates the course, for any reason, prior to
the course completion date.v. The Students Pass application is rejected by
Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA).
Kaplan Higher Education Academy shall, within 7working days of notifying the student in writing ofabove circumstances (i) to (iv), provide the studentwith information and details of the alternative
confirmed course arrangement to allow the studentto make timely and appropriate decision on thealternative arrangement.Kaplan Higher Education Academy offers a 7-daycooling off period to students who wish to withdrawafter their student contract. Students will receive themaximum refund of the course fees if they withdrawwithin 7 days of signing the student contract. Allwithdrawal requests must be presented to KaplanHigher Education Academy officially in writing.
In the event that a student wishes to withdrawfrom the programme, the application fee and theadministrative fee are not refundable. Studentsare liable to pay (where applicable) fees that areimposed by the government authorities or otherexternal partners.
