Virginia Colony Virginia was the first colony to be settled in the Southern part of the United States.Captain John Smith discovered the Virginia Colony in 1607.They traveled there to find gold. In the Colony, there was no slaves. The Colony grew tobacco plants, so Virginia started the smoking process.

Maryland colonyMaryland was found on 1642 by Cecil Calvert. It was the largest state to be rented by Catholics.They moved to the country because they want more land. They were from England

North Carolina In 1584 North Carolina was found by the King of England. Bath was the oldest town in North Carolina All the people from England found it because they needed more land.

South CarolinaSouth Carolina was found in 1663 by King Charles the second. They were all from England. They wanted more land.

GeorgiaJames Oglethorpe found Georgia. Georgia was the smallest colony in the southern colonies. Oglethorpe was the governor too.King George III found it with him because they all needed more land

Now we will be going on the Northern Colonies

New York ColonyThe New York colony was found by Henry Hudson. They wanted more land so they found New York. It was named after King James II. It was the Second largest city in America

New Jersey ColonyThe New Jersey colony was founded in 1664. New York split up its colony, so the other part was New Jersey. Perth Envoy and Burlington was the capital

Pennsylvania ColonyThe founder of Pennsylvania was William Penn and it was named after him in the 1670s. He and his colonist moved to Pennsylvania because they wanted freedom. Philadelphia was the capitol. As the years go on, Pennsylvanias population was bigger than New Yorks.

Delaware ColonyThe Delaware colony was founded by Henry Hudson, but was named after Baron De La Warr. Delaware was used to be part of Pennsylvania, but it broke away. Baron and his colonist was from Sweden to find freedom.

New Hampshire ColonyThe New Hampshire colony was founded by John Mason in 1630. He and his colony moved to it because for escaping for those constricted by religious and economic rules.

Massachusetts ColonyThe Massachusetts colony was founded by William Bradford in 1620. He and his colonists came there because of Religious freedom for Separatists.

Rhode Island ColonyThe Rhode Island Colony was founded on 1636 by Roger Williams. The reason for moving in the Colony was to have Religious freedom.
