2013 - 2014 VARSITY ALL STAR SCORINGSCORING GUIDELINES
DIFFICULTY RANGESor each of the skill categories, judges will assign a Difficulty score that represents an assessment of each teams overall difficulty. Judges
lace a team in their level appropriate 1-point range based on meeting the minimum criteria. Within the level appropriate 1-point range, the ju
will then assign a subrange based on even more specific requirements (see Level Specific Scoring Guidelines). Difficulty will be assessed as
t the LOW end of the range (.1 to a .3), within the MEDIUM of the range (.3 to .6), or at the HIGH end of the range (.6 up to the Maximum). T
hat do not satisfy the criteria for any of the subranges will be scored at the bottom of their level appropriate range (i.e. 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, etc.).
Revised August 23, 2013
ROUTINE CREATIVITYoutine Creativity will reward teams for using creative, innovative, and visual choreography throughout the routine (formations, transitions,
music, etc.).

Single based, unassisted Stunt:Any stunt whereas the top person is being held by a single base during a portion of the stunt sequence. The stunt mueld for an amount of time that proves the stunt groups ability to maintain the skill without the assistance of additional bases and spotters.
*Exception:Not level appropriate but will receive credit in Level 3, 4, and 5.
NOTE: Changing body positions does not count towards the number of skills when assessing the stunting skills difficulty subrange.

PERFORMANCEerformance will be evaluated on the following criteria: showmanship, energy levels, excitement, crowd appeal, uniformity, gen
nthusiasm, and athletic sportsmanship.
SENIOR COED DIVISIONS(excluding Senior Restricted 5 Coed and Level 4.2)he following requirement does not apply to teams competing in Junior, Youth, Mini, and Tiny divisions. It also excludes L5 S
estricted division and Level 4.2 division since both divisions are typically comprised of coed teams and all girl teams compe
gainst each other.
evel 3, Level 4 and Level 5 Senior coed teams are required to perform single based, unassisted stunts in their routine to qualify for
HIGH Basing range (4.6 - 5.0). The number of stunt groups expected to meet the requirements will vary and depends on the numb
males in each routine. To calculate that number of stunts expected, take the number of males in the routine and divide by 2. R
own when applicable.
xample 1: A team with 6 males needs to feature at least 3 single based unassisted stunts (6 / 2 = 3).
xample 2: A team with 3 males needs to feature at least 1 single based unassisted stunt (3 / 2 = 1.5, rounded down to 1).
Exception: A team with 1 male needs to deature at least 1 single based unassisted stunt.
he required single based stunts must be performed within a single section of the routine (judges will not reward for recycling s
roups or individuals). The base for single based unassisted stunts may be either male or female.
If a team does not meet the coed requirement, they will not be eligible for the HIGH Basing subrange.
Note: Single based, unassisted stunts at prep level or above may satisfy the coed requirement. However, if a team intends for ingle based stunt to serve as one of their level appropriate building skills used in determining their subrange, that single based s
must, like the other stunts in the routine, involve most of the athletes (including spotters) in the sequence.
TOSSESor teams with fewer than 15 athletes, scoring in the HIGH subrange may be achieved by performing 2 squad tosses (includi
ariety, i.e. a team of 11 athletes only needs to complete 4 tosses to score in the HIGH subrange).
Revised August 23, 2013
BASINGThe use of bases in relation to the number of athletes, team size, and stunt groups during the level appropriate transitions.
BASING
Low4.1 - 4.3
Most of the stunts use a standard number of bases and include front spots.
Medium4.3 - 4.6 Most of the stunts use a standard number of bases and do not include front spots.
High4.6 - 5.0
Most of the stunts use a standard number of bases, do not include front spots, and are performed maximum number of athletes.*For Senior Coed teams: must demonstrate single based, unassisted stunting at prep level or aboSee rubric for additional information. For all other divisions, 2 mans and unassisted stunts arerequired for this subrange.
