CHAPTER 1:

On April the 26th, 2003 Aron is biking and hiking in Canonlands !ational "ark

in so#th east Utah, USA$

The Plan:

First day: Aron and Brad are climbing and skiing on Mountains Soplis.

Second day: Aron is biking the Slick Rocky Trail alone.

Third Day: he is hiking through Blue John along this lies the Big Drop Rappel*!

and "orseshoe #anyons here you $nd the Great Gallery *! a%ter biking to thetrail. "e is lea&ing his bike at the end o% the trail' then hiking back to thecarpark' a%ter that he is dri&ing o&er in the truck and collecting the bike a%ter.Finally' he is dri&ing to (obling )alley' his %riends are ha&ing a party there.

Fourth day: Aron is hiking the most popular trail in southern *tah + ,ittle -hite

"orse. Fi%th day: "e is biking along the -hite Rim Trail in / hours. That e&ening he

needs to be back in Aspen' #olorado because he is ha&ing a goodbye party %or,eona' his roommate and colleague. ,eona is going to li&e to another city to0ork.

Aron arri%es at the Horseshoe Canon &arpark, lea%es his tr#&k and starts

&&ling$ A'ter 13k( he lo&ks his bike to a tree and starts )alking$ He is near the *reat *aller$ He reali+es he has 'orgotten to lea%e a (essage telling anone )here he )as

going$ Onl eona kne) he )as going to be so(e)here in Utah$

Up at the trail he hears %oi&es$ -)o other hikers, .egan and /risti, appear$ -hede&ide to )alk along together$ -he separate at the end o' the )est &anon and he &ontin#es alone to the ig

rop Rappel$ -he agreed on going together to the part on *obling alle$ Ho)e%er, Aron

'ollo)s his plan$

*Big Drop Rappel:

The canyon drops / meters' the 0alls are &ery narro0 and the trail

goes up and do0n' sharply. There are boulders stuck bet0een thecanyons 0alls.

*The Horseshoe Canyon:

"ere it lies the (reat (allery' and it is %amous %or the huge rock paintings

0hich co&er the 0alls.

CHAPTER 2:

(ost dilt part o' the trail$ -he &anon )alls are narro)er, the trails rise and 'all and is '#ll o' sharp ro&ks$ He &o(es a&ross the bo#lders4 he needs to be &are'#l$ As he starts to stand on one bo#lder so(ething (o%es, his )eight p#shes on

one side o' it and (akes a strange so#nd$

He lets go of the boulder and drop towards the ground, when he looksup he sees the boulder crashing towards his head

The boulder hits his right hand and trap his hand against the right side

of the canyon

at the sa(e ti(e b#t nothing happens$

He keeps on listening the %oi&es in his head$ One tells hi( to be sensible$ -he
