Sunday, May 6 Sermon Text: Exodus 39:1-31

“Priestly Garments”

Bloomfield Baptist Family: “And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.” (Exodus 25:8–9) As we near the end of our study in Exodus, we find God’s people building the tabernacle exactly as God commanded them to build it. This serves as good reminder for us: It is not sufficient to merely know God’s commands, we must obey them. The tabernacle would allow God to dwell in the midst of a sinful people. The tabernacle would allow God’s people to approach this dwelling place of God so that they could worship God in the way He instructed them to worship. As Tremper Longman points out,“God does not leave it to human beings to define the type of worship they will offer him. God knows what is best and he told Moses in detail.” Are you worshipping God in the way He has instructed you to worship Him? Are you following God in the way He has instructed you to follow Him? Are you obeying God’s commands? Remember, obedience to God can only come as a result of fully surrendering our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We can never obey our way to heaven. But, once God saves us through he redemptive work of Jesus Christ, we are empowered to obey His commands. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) Grace and Peace, Pastor Richard
