NEW MEDICARE CARD ON ITS WAYThe Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
are rolling out new Medicare cards to all eligiblebeneficiaries beginning this April. The new cards willlook the same and cover the same benefits. However,
the Social Security Number ID’s will be replaced with arandomly assigned Medicare Beneficiary Identifier
(MBI). Due to the rise of fraud and identity theft, CMShas decided to replace the current ID numbers with a
Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI), a randomlychosen mix of 11 letters and numbers. CMS anticipates
the distribution of nearly 58 million cards will takecourse over a year. Once you receive your Medicare
card, be sure to present the new card to your medicalproviders for proper billing of services. For further
questions about your new card, call 1-800-MEDICARE(1-800-633-4227) or log on to www.Medicare.gov.
‘Favorite Things’About a Classic Film

• Stars Julie Andrews andChristopher Plummer bothlearned guitar for themovie, but Plummer’ssinging and guitar-playingwere dubbed in thefinal cut.
• The real Maria von Trapp,along with her daughterand granddaughter,appear as extras in the film.They can be seen in thebackground as Marialeaves the abbey and sings“I Have Confidence.”
