PAXTON MUSIC NEWS

THE PACE

September 2016

Dear Friends,

It’s time for my annual Pace letter which occurs when John is on vacation. I’ve been thinking about the Olympics and how my interest has wavered. I decided it was part of my de-cluttering procedure as I try to improve my memory; my grandson says “G you are 62” like I need reminded!

I enjoy quietness and less clutter in my head, things that used to be annoying are just forgotten. I do things that I LIKE to do not what is necessarily expected! I turn off the television and enjoy quiet and avoid the drama, “For God gave us spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

I hope you’ve enjoyed your summer and had some time to relax and de-clutter as well. We have an exciting start to the school year with several speakers and new teachers for the kiddos.

Please join us.

and keep an eye out for the date so you can come join us!

By the time you read this a base for the bench made from used bricks donated by Janice and Steve Barnes will have been completed in the peninsula by members of the Grove Committee (Janice and Steve Barnes, Norm Daniels, Trish and Jack Moore, and Park Trullinger). Now members of Paxton and the community can enjoy the plants in the penin-sula and be reminded of God’s gift of nature. Thanks espe-cially to Janice Barnes and Trish Moore for all their hard work in the peninsula and the Meditation Garden.

Once again, thank you to all who have helped with the Grove. If there are any others of you who would like to get some outside exercise, please let a committee member know—we can always use more help!

Now that summer is here and the trees and other plants have leafed out, the Grove Committee hopes that you are all enjoying the benefits of the hard work that various members of Paxton Church as well as others have been doing in the Grove. We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all who have helped make this possible.

First of all, thank you to the 16 members of Paxton Church who came on Saturday, April 16, for Clean Up Day. They raked up the leaves and branches that have fallen over the winter.

About the same time a group of six Mormon missionaries under the coordination of Richard Peiffer did some other work around the grove. They repositioned the curbing around the parking lot that had been pushed back by re-peated snow plowing during the winter, planted a replace-ment memorial tree, and assembled a park style bench for the peninsula.

A group of students from Harrisburg Academy came to spread mulch around and under the outdoor sanctuary benches as well as around the memorial trees and in the plant beds. They also filled in “ankle twister” holes around the grove. At the same time other students from the Acad-emy were doing similar work in Paxtang Borough Park and Paxtang Cemetery.

On Saturday, June 11, three ladies from the Harrisburg Gar-den Club and ten Paxton members came to prune shrub-bery around Paxton. There will probably be another “Pruning Party” at some point so find your pruning shears

Reaching Out The Evangelism and Membership

Ministry Submitted by Norm Daniels

Have You Gotten an Email From Church Recently? If the answer is no, that is because we don't have your email ad-dress (or most current one). We are trying to collect email ad-dresses from all members so we can make quick church-wide contacts in the event of closures, upcoming events, change of plans, etc. If you have an email address and have not heard from us, would you please send an email to the church office? The address is: [email protected]. You could also contact Norm Daniels ([email protected]).

I Spy with my Little Eye... E&MM would like to start send-ing neighborly letters of welcome to people who have just moved into our area and also invite them to our church. In order to do this, we need your help. If someone moves into your neighborhood, let us know the address. You don't need to know the name, and we won't give your name in your letter. We just want to welcome that person to the area and give the person the option of visiting with us. Please contact the church office (561-0510 or [email protected]), Norm Daniels (561-0613 or [email protected]), or drop a note in the collection plate.

"We Missed You at Church." We are a family at Paxton. If you notice that a friend has missed several Sundays, why not give that person a call? It's always nice to know that your ab-sence has been noted and you are missed. "It's good to see you here!" Please continue to note who may be a visitor. After church, make it a point to approach the person and give a friendly welcome. Many people who are looking for a new church home place a great deal of impor-tance on the warmth and friendliness of a congregation. I hear comments about how friendly our church is over and over again. Your kind comments may be the difference between a new member and a one-time visitor. Perhaps you are con-

cerned that you may welcome a long-time member you just didn't recognize (I have done that). Just tell them, "It's good to see you here!" That works in all situations. Thank you...
