Nordstrom has announced plans to open a discount store along the Camelback Corridor next year. The Valley's fourth Nordstrom Rack, featuring 35,000 square feet of space, is scheduled to open at the Shops at Town & Country during fall 2012. Terms of the lease weren't announced. Nordstrom Rack carries apparel and related merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com at 50 to 60 percent off original prices. Seattle-based Nordstrom operates two full-line stores in Arizona, at Scottsdale Fashion Square and Chandler Fashion Center.

"Town & Country is a terrific location for a Nordstrom Rack in Phoenix," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, in a statement. Town & Country is a 325,000-square-foot mixed-use center off Camelback Road and 20th Street. RED Development participates in the redevelopment, leasing and ownership of the complex with Town & Country Camelback LLC. RED, which developed the CityScape retail and office complex in downtown Phoenix, is headquartered in Phoenix and Kansas City, Mo. Nordstrom Rack will occupy a former Bookstar space on the northern end of the development. Other tenants include Trader Joe's, LA Fitness, My Sister's Closet and Hi-Health. Other Nordstrom Rack Valley locations are at Scottsdale Promenade Shopping Center, Chandler Festival Shopping Center and Arrowhead Crossing in Peoria. A Nordstrom Rack will open in Tucson in October. Nordstrom also has a Last Chance store across the street from the new Rack location, at 1919 E. Camelback Road. Last Chance features final-clearance items that have been overstocked at or returned to Nordstrom stores.
