Each of these pictures contains an ideological message

• This message can be subliminal and contain only vague associations or connotations – remember that from GCSE English?

• Consider the ivy front – Some consider this gives buildings a traditional, classic look

• Therefore, what message might this photo be broadcasting about a Deyes High education?

Creating our own ideology

• Each table will have a blank school magazine front cover – you have a few jobs to start out with:

• 1. Decide on the ideology behind your school magazine front cover

• 2. Think about what main image would achieve this – sketch this in.

• 3. Consider what coverlines could be added to the magazine front cover to attract reader attention.

Creating our own ideology

• Now one student is going to move to the next table and talk through their idea for a new school magazine front cover

• Those listeners are going to going to discuss:

• What is the ideology for this front cover?

• How effective is it at getting its message across?

• Could it be improved? A different image?
