Installation of AIX Oracle software - 11g Release 2.

Copy zip files from technet.oracle.com to a staging area on database Server –

Cd /u03/oradata/software/11g_rel2

ls –lrt

aix.ppc64_11gR2_database_1of2.zipaix.ppc64_11gR2_database_2of2.zip

Unzip both files –creates new directory called “database” .

cd database

ls –lrt

/u03/oradata/software/11g_rel2/database> ls -lrttotal 104-rw-r--r-- 1 ofsad2 dba 5406 Dec 10 00:15 welcome.htmldrwxr-xr-x 12 ofsad2 dba 4096 Dec 16 23:46 doc-rwxr-xr-x 1 ofsad2 dba 7046 Dec 21 14:20 runInstaller-rwxr-xr-x 1 ofsad2 dba 22753 Dec 21 14:20 rootpre.shdrwxr-xr-x 14 ofsad2 dba 4096 Dec 21 15:53 stagedrwxr-xr-x 2 ofsad2 dba 256 Dec 21 15:53 sshsetupdrwxr-xr-x 2 ofsad2 dba 256 Dec 21 15:53 rpmdrwxr-xr-x 3 ofsad2 dba 256 Dec 21 15:53 rootpredrwxr-xr-x 2 ofsad2 dba 256 Dec 21 15:53 responsedrwxr-xr-x 4 ofsad2 dba 4096 Dec 21 15:53 install

./runInstaller

Once complete run root.sh as root user.
