The Black Child Develop-ment Fort Lauderdale Affili-ate partners with Magnor-brain Games to increase theliteracy rate in elementaryschool students Fort Lauder-dale, Fla, on Tuesday, Oct.18, 2016 – The Black ChildDevelopment Institute(BDCI) Fort Lauderdale Af-filiate is pleased to announceits community partnershipwith Magnorbrain Games toincrease the literacy rate inelementary school studentsin Broward County, Florida.
BDCI and MagnorbrainGames will be distributingover 500 literacy games tostudents at 5 selected elemen-tary schools between Octo-ber and December of thisschool year. The events willbe free of charge and open toall students and parents whoattend the selected schools.Magnorbrain’s mission is tochange the way students andteachers play and learnthrough fun and educa-tional board games. The firstevent was held on Thurs-day, Oct. 20, 2016 at ParkLakes Elementary School inLauderdale Lakes, Fla.

November and Decemberare times of increased giv-ing. So many of us are rela-tionship and philanthropyfocused. We open our homesto friends and family, andwe open our wallets to non-profits.

Knowing that many choose to make financial gifts during thistime, nonprofits focus on reaching out to donors through directmail, on-line campaigns, and in-person requests for support.Altruism is in the air. But so is the business of nonprofit fundraising.
With this column we explore the balance between internalnonprofit fundraising pressures, and the external realities ofdonor focused fundraising.
Internally, organizations put attention on reaching theirfund-raising goal. This manifests in different ways. Board mem-bers may want to ensure they get “credit” for their efforts and arerecognized as fulfilling their board-related fundraising responsi-bilities.
