An employee who elects or is deemed to have elected for therevised·'pay· band shall draw pay in the revised pay bandapplicable to the post to which he is appointed :

. .Provided that an employee may elect to continue to drawpay in .the existing scale until the date on which he earnshis next or any subsequent increment in the existing scale.The option shall be exercised within a period of threemonths from the date of issue of these orders. Option oncexcrcised shall be final.

Doubts have been expressed by certain quarters as to the rate at

which a. Government servant is required to subscribe to the

General Provident Fund (GPF) in the revised pay structure to beimplemented from 1-7-2009.

In terms Of the University Grants Commission's communicationNo. F-3-912007(PS) dated September 6, 2007, the pay scales of thenon-academic' staff of the universities have been considered for

(i) While the pay will be fixed in the revised scale from 1-1-2006,payment of salary at the revised rates will be ma<le from1-7-2009 as in the ~ase of State Government employees.

(ii) The matters relating to exercise of option, fixation of pay inthe revised scale, qualification bar and date of next incrementshall be governed by the relevant provisions of rules ascontained in the J&K Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules,2009 as amended from time to time.

(iii) Payment of other allowances shall continue to be regulatedon the same lines as admissible to the' employees of twouniversities of Kashmir and Jammu as heretofore.

(iv) The matter regarding payment of arrears of).)-2006 to 30-6-2009 shall be consideredsubsequently.
