About BRUHN Limestone
• BRUHN Limestone quarries and supplies Plainface, Rockface and Bevel Edge blocks at various sizes. These blocksare complemented by a broad range of decorative mouldings and columns.
• BRUHN Limestone is the only second strata Limestone quarry in Mount Gambier, and off ers a unique blend of cream and sandstone colours. This variation in colour is derived by natural fault lines unique to the BRUHN Limestone quarry.
• BRUHN Limestone has high insulating and acoustic properties that ensure all projects are energy conscious and support government green star ratings.
• BRUHN Limestone is cut with small mobile cutting saws minimising carbon emissions and off ering low embodied energy ratings.
BRUHN Limestone is a family owned business that has quarried Mount Gambier Limestone for over 70 years spanning three generations.

Mount Gambier Limestone (fossiliferous limestone) is located and quarried from the Marte deposits, 10km west of Mount Gambier in the South-East of South Australia.
The stone originated from extensive colonies of bryozoa (or lace coral) that fl ourished on an open-marine shelf, formed over 30 million years ago.
Its composition consists of bryozoa, foraminifea and echinoid spines and plates.

Delivery and ServiceProduct Information
BRUHN Limestone has been quarrying stone for over 70 years, and has supplied building products to over 5,000 homes nationally. During this time we have continued to grow our range of products, to ensure the support of emerging architectural designs.
Our sizing and shapes of limestone blocks, decorative moulds and columns have evolved, so we can continue to build traditional homes, but also embrace contemporary residential and commercial architecture.
These changes have also developed in the way we care for our stone, as we now supply our own sealant, and off er advice about its application and management. This sealing process protects and hardens the stone ensuring your fi nished product looks its absolute best over time.
For advice on any special needs with your stone requirements, please contact your BRUHN Limestone representative.

Q Do you use the same mortar mix as brickwork?
A We recommend a white brickie sand mixed at 6 parts sand, 1 part white cement and 1 part lime. We can also supply limestone dust that can be mixed with the mortar to blend the colour closer to that of the natural stone.
Q Do I need to allow for a diff erent type of foundation for limestone than brick?
A No, construction with BRUHN Limestone is the same as traditional brick.
Q Do I need to put in expansion joints with stone?
A The properties of Limestone has little expansion or contraction, however it is recommended that expansion joints be put in place.
Q Do I need a qualifi ed stonemason to lay the limestone?
A We recommend that you use qualifi ed tradesman only, and we can supply a list of stonemasons in your area. We also off er onsite training for a bricklayer who is laying limestone for the fi rst time.
Q Is limestone recommended below ground level?
A We recommend that you do the build up to damp course level out of brick or block. This may require one or two courses of brickwork to slab height and can be rendered to the stone colour.
Q What is the best way to attach carports or any other fi xtures to the limestone?
A Any fi xing into limestone needs to be a plug and screw method or chemical fi xings like Chemsets. Do not use Dyna Bolts as if over tightened they will work loose over time.
Q Does limestone need to be sealed?
A Yes, we recommend our limestone to be sealed, and recommend our own product BRUHN Rock Seal.
Q How is BRUHN Rock Seal applied and when does limestone need to be resealed?
A Sealant can be sprayed on using a painter’s airless spray gun applying two coats wet on wet, or alternatively one heavy fl ood coat. We recommend re-coating every 7‒10 years.
Q What is the composition of the BRUHN Rock Seal?
A BRUHN Rock Seal is a water based acrylic with a silicon additive. It is milky white liquid that has a mild odour and is easy to use.
Q Can I specifi cally design my own decorative moulds?
A BRUHN Limestone supply a large range of standard moulds utilising their own factory cutter heads. If a client wishes to use a certain design outside of this range, there maybe an additional cost to the client for the design and purchase of the steel cutter head.
Q How is the limestone delivered?
A Each pallet of stone is strapped and shrink wrapped for delivery direct to site by BRUHN Limestone trucks with all terrain forklift equipment. However this can vary depending on site access.
