I wait for the Lord; in his word is my hope.
Psalm 130.4
14:22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24 but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. 25 And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid." 28 Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." 29 He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" 32 When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

If you presently serve as a leader or coordinator for any such ministry activity, please an-ticipate receiving a phone call and/or communicating with the Screening Coordinator for this parish (Nadeen Murray). “But when Peter noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!””. Matthew 14:13-14
As a surfer, I have recently learned the art of long board -- riding very big boards in small surf. For traditional long boarders, the apex of the sport is nose riding. To ride the nose, a surfer positions the board in the steepest part of the wave and then walks to the very front of the board.
Purists claim that if you are not over the edge of the board, you are not riding the nose. This assertion gave rise to the term “hang ten”, which refers to ten toes hanging off the front off the board. Nose riding requires athleticism and poise-- on a good nose ride, the board disappears in the wave and the rider appears to be walking on water. Much like Peter, most people have difficulty maintaining this mystical posture-- especially once they become aware of what they are doing.
Surfing has much in common with the life of faith-- there are serene days, terrifying days, and a lot of forgotten days. Surfing and faith both involve fluid participation with the power that Is not one’s own.

Confession & Absolution
Priest Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in
mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us
confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.
Priest Most merciful God,
All: We confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your son Jesus Christ , have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.
Priest Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All: Amen
