ISSUE 4 PAGE 5 For Children and Youth For Children and Youth For Children and Youth For Children and Youth Flickers of Light There is a room in our church that carries most of our arts, crafts and drama supplies. It is where we can grab bulletin board materials as well as a variety of other miscellaneous items. We call it the Resource Room. Very often, the Resource Room becomes the catch-all for all kinds of items no one knows what to do with. About twice a year, two heavenly angels, Dena and Betty, flutter into that great abyss of stuff, spread their wings and miraculously put the room back into order. Thank you Dena Turner and Betty Charnholm, you are true miracle workers! Thanks to Nancy Stebbins and Margaret Cleveland, some of the children’s rooms have also received heavenly overhauls recently. Leftover papers, crafts and Sunday School projects found proper homes with their gentle guidance. It is great to be surrounded by angels! Speaking of angels, I want to personally thank all those who took time out on a recent Sunday afternoon to attend our Children’s Ministry Team meeting. We went over several upcoming events and came up with some dates to be put on your calendars: Feb 26 : JYF: Junior Youth Fellowship, 3-5 th grades will enjoy a lunch provided by the Brown family, followed by a variety of mission projects. Feb 29 : WOW: A Journey with Jesus: 5:30-8:00 pm April 22 : JYF: Junior Youth Fellowship, 3-5 th grades will travel to the Oregon Garden for Earth Day activi- ties; lunch sponsored by the Gordon family. May 13 : Mother’s Day and baby parade for children 3 and under and their families. May 20 : Teacher Appreciation: Parent volunteers needed. May 27 : JYF June 3 : Promotion Sunday July 22-26 : Vacation Bible School: Babylon, Daniel’s Courage in Captivity There are many volunteer opportunities available at these events. Please let me know how you can help. Love your neighbors and your children. Consider love before speaking out. With love, Laurie Flurries from Chris Over the past few weeks the youth and I made our way through 10 different texts of the Bible. This idea came from my father as we were driving out to see my grandmother in Idaho over a month ago and ever since I have been thinking about what would be on my list. After assembling the list for this series, with the help of the youth, young adults, and others from around the church, I find myself looking at these texts and seeing how they describe the complex relationship that humanity has with God and how it is still relevant today as we seek to build our own relationships with God. As we continue to look into the future for the youth program there are some things that would be of use to the youth department. Clean newspapers- We are shooting for about a 4 feet stack of newspapers for some activities. Instead of throwing those newspapers into the recycling bin, bring them to the church and we can use them at least once more before they head off to the recycling center. Clean 2 liter soda bottles- We are in need of a decent supply of clean/empty 2 liter soda bottles with lids for activities with the youth. Red curtains- The curtains that we have in the youth lounge are starting to show their age and wear, while also not doing their job as well as they used to. If you are interested I would encourage you to see me about what we are looking for. This is also an opportunity for you to see how the youth room has changed over the years. Teachers for Sunday School- If you have a passion for teaching or would like to help lead discussions on the Bible I would encourage you to see me about the possibility of sharing your gifts with the youth. Peace, Chris Snow

Flurries from Chris Over the past few weeks the youth and I made our way through 10 different texts of the Bible.
