Thanks for your tremendous prayerful response to Tackle the Debt. Many of you have started tithing, and some of you have returned to tithing, and 120+ of you have made commitments to the Tackle the Debt Building Fund.

One of our single moms told me, “I knew I was supposed to be tithing but I just thought I couldn’t. I started tithing and the Lord gave me a monthly break in my bills of $400. It covered my tithe and gave me opportunity to give to Tackle the Debt too...”.

One of our young couples started tithing on their gross income when they had been tithing on their net. Along with the change they made a commitment to Tackle the Debt. With tears in his eyes, he said, “Andy, mentally I knew God would do something I honestly did not know exactly what. We received a check in the mail that covered our Building Fund Commitment, and the overage in our tithing on our gross income. God is so overwhelmingly good.”

How do you want to be blessed by God? Test Him in the area of giving and I will look forward to hearing your testimony of God’s goodness in your life.

Sowing and Reaping,

Pastor Andy

Plans are actively being made for this year’s Taylor Road Treats The Town on Sunday, October 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. We were able to wrangle Children’s Director David Givens down for a few moments to catch the vision of what this event is and how it is truly a local mission project:

Q: So, what’s the big deal about Taylor Road Treats The Town? Why does Taylor Road produce this event?

A: Taylor Road Treats The Town was meant to be an evangelistic opportunity. I tend to think of it as a time when we can come and have fun with our kids, and I hope we do, I hope that is what happens. BUT, I hope we can remember it as a time of outreach, a time of evangelism. A time where we can share the Gospel with people coming here. A time where we can invite people to our join with us here at Taylor Road!

Q: How do you go about turning this fun fall festival event into what is truly now a mission project?

A: We produced and showed a video last year that we got tremendous response from. The rst thing that was said was Acts 1:8. Basically that verse is telling us, rather commanding us to be witnesses to everyone, from right here in Montgomery to throughout the world. Without this commandment our church would be nothing more than a social club. It can be tough to knock on someones door. We’re all human and we fear oending people, we fear rejection. But what if our neighbors...our entire neighborhood, came to our house...to our church? Would we welcome them in? That’s the key. Last year there was over a 1000 people in attendance, many unchurched...no knowledge of the saving power of Jesus Christ. We need the members of Taylor Road to be there to greet them.

Q: So what are the things that we can do as a church to prepare for this year’s Taylor Road Treats the Town?

A: Candy of course! There are buckets and boxes all around the church. Bringing candy is an easy thing to do. Second of all, we need kids here. If you know kids in your neighborhood, down the street, in your school...invite them! We will have tickets and yers for you to hand out at the registration desk in the lobby this month. Grab some and hand them out! Lastly, we need volunteers. We need people here to work, to help the kids, to run the booths or games. We all know it’s a Sunday afternoon and you can think of a thousand dierent things you could be doing but I challenge you to catch the vision of what this event is. We need you to be here...and most impor-tantly be ready to share the Gospel!

If you have questions or want to sign up to be involved, don’t hesitate to call the church oce (271-3363) or send an email to David ([email protected]) , Ruth ([email protected]) or Belinda ([email protected])!
