23Rent a kayak and paddle around Lake Agnes. Located atthe heart of Alexandria, this little lake was named inhonor of the girlfriend of one of the town’s earliest set-
tlers, William Kinkead.

Climb Inspiration Peak
25Climb Inspiration Peak and marvelat the view overlooking Dou-glas County. At 1,706 feet, it’s
the highest point in the area and one of thetallest peaks in Minnesota. It offers a captivat-
ing view any time of the year. It is part of what isknown as the Leaf Hills, which are the greatest de-
velopment of glacial moraines in Minnesota.

Picnic at Park Osagi
28Have a picnic at ParkOsagi along the south-ern shore of Lake Os-
akis. The park is located on LakeStreet and it’s easy to get to. The sce-
nic park has a lot to offer: check out theplayground, fishing, picnic shelters, bas-

cal Society. Organized in 1976, the mission of the society isto discover, preserve and disseminate the history of thecounty and its people. The society is located in the historichome of one of Alexandria’s most famous residents – KnuteNelson. Nelson served in public office for more than 50 years. Hishome was built in 1874 and was listed on the National Register ofHistoric places in 1978.

Osakis is a growing community of 1,615 people located in both Douglas and Todd counties in
west central Minnesota.Osakis is located on the south end of
