InnovationMany Thomas & Betts products save time and money or solve

special challenges for customers in a variety of industries,

including wind power generation. For example, our engineers

developed Color-Keyed® Narrow-Tongue Lugs to minimize

space usage in industrial control panels. We then adapted

them for custom solutions for the wind power industry.

Because these lugs maintain a consistent narrow width from barrel to tongue and fit anywhere

the cable fits, cables can be pre-terminated and ready for installation when you need them

instead of requiring field termination after the cables have been installed in the tower.

Other Thomas & Betts products developed or adapted specifically for wind power applications

include our 38kV Hi-Tech® Trans-Guard® OS Shorty Backup Fuse, specifically designed to

protect padmount transformers used on wind farms from faults as high as 50kA. Likewise,

our compact 38kV/25kA Elastimold® MVI Molded Vacuum Interrupter was developed as an

environmentally friendly, maintenance-free switchgear package that fits through a wind tower

door, offering more flexibility in construction

sequencing during tower erection.
