The sona projector initiative empowers students toengage with the conference and articulate a position oran idea evident in their work. This will be illustratedvisually and submitted in a digital format to be included ina continuous slideshow to be projected onto the wall ofthe scaffolding.

The concept of the project issimple. The houses rise up highinto the airspace once occupiedby falling mortar and artilleryshells fired by the city

s besiegersin the surrounding mountains. Byoccupying the airspace, the High

Houses reclaim it for the peopleof the city. Balancing onscavenged steel beams weldedend-to-end, they are spaces of anew beginning for Sarajevo, onethat challengesin physicaltermsthe city s past andpresent, aiming at a futureuniquely Sarajevan......poised like catapults, fulfill theparadoxical desire to fly and atthe same time be rooted in theirplace of origin.

Similarly occupying the air spaceabove the conference, thescaffold platforms elevatestudents, providing them with aforum and means to reflect andreinterpret their position andagenda at the conference andconsequently individualarchitectural direction.

A primary steel structure, thescaffolding provides real andpresent opportunity for studentsto reinterpret and re-engage withthe conference and the broaderaustralian architecturecommunity. Elevated andremoved, students will considerand claim a piece of the action forthemselves. Gatheringinspiration, students will stake outa position and project theiragenda to the nationalconference.
