1000 Visitors Per Day Via Blogging In The Next 90 Days Week2 - 3

Week 2-3

This is a follow up of Week 1 from 1000 Visitors Per Day Via Blogging In The Next 90 Days.

In the first week I tracked my Twitter Views or Impressions and counted them towards my overallviews.

However when I far surpassed my target for not just the day but the entire month on only my twitter(which you can read about in my post How I Increased My Traffic By 2M% & You Can Too)I knew itwas time to make the Challenge more Challenging.

So I stopped counting my Twitter views.

Heres why…

If you want to know more about how I achieved this huge jump in twitter Impressions I explaineverything at this walkthrough.

Things that I've been doing in the past two weeks include changing my hosting from Godaddy toBlue Host in an attempt to speed my site up in order to create a better user experience. My Sitewas taking almost 1 minute to load and I could not figure out why.

After switching to Blue Host the problem remained so I jumped on the Blue Host Chat and theysorted the problem out nice and fast. Overall I am very happy with them.

I upgraded to a Macbook Pro which has been a great timesaver. I honestly did not realise how much

time I was wasting waiting for my laptop to operate or trying to sift through everything on the samedesktop. Thanks to the shear speed and multiple desktop function which is fantastic, I am able torun multiple tasks more efficiently. Anyone who has tried blogging on any serious level will tell youthat you need to be doing several things at once. You need to be the creative, technical, researchand financial department all in one role.

Whoever said you can't be everything has clearly never met a blogger.

I did a test of my pagespeed on Google Page Speed Test before I had my slow site problem.

On Sept 14 roughly day four of this challenge my page speed was 79% and YSlow 82% (YahoosVersion) which I was happy with.

However, I wanted faster so installed w3 Total Cache and set up the Amazon AWS ContentDelivery Network (CDN).

I also added Popup Domination which I setup with my Aweber Account.

You can read more about that here 10 Minutes To Start A Blog.

These Changes had a positive effect. As you can see below my Pagespeed shot up to 95% andYSlow to 82%.

However because I added some functions on the page the load time went down from 1.7 Secondsto 2.7 seconds. But I felt they were necessary changes and the order of the impact was negligibleespecially given that my Page Speed went up.

After my little scare with the 1 minute load time. I retested my site in hope that it loaded back to95% but, it did not and now one week on the site had yet to recover. That said I am happier nowwith 85% than 95%.

If that sounds odd let me explain. No I'm not lying. I really am happier with the reduced percentagespeed. This is because my load time is lower that it was and my Page Speed is still pretty good.

I have continued with a holistic approach to generating my traffic which has been having a bit of apositive effect but still not much closer to 1000 views a day.

As you can see the daily page views are coming in around 10 – 20 per day which is great, especially as I know they are not me as I have set up my machines and analytics account to nottrack my view. If I didn't do that it would be easy to hit 1000 views a day.

Another positive is the chart seams to be going up in the past few days. Which could be nothing butI'll take any positive I can at this stage. But part of me can't help but think that graphs go up anddown and soon those views will go back down.

From my experience marketing launches I know that some traffic will always return to a oncepopular site which is how I have made a lot of my income but blogging is totally new to me and veryrefreshing. I am not trying to hype my way to massive traffic that falls of a cliff and delivers dribblesof traffic.

From my understanding my new job is to create the best quality site I can and focused on the longterm. I thought this would be easier than marketing quick launches. But it is a million times harderwith almost no returns at the moment.

I am actually beginning to question if any blogger ever makes any money as it seems to me to beharder to turn a profit when you are giving away everything you know. Also with so much of my

time being spent promoting my own blog that is not earning any money at the moment I have towonder why I am not spending that time promoting an eBook I've written or an establishedcompany like Sage Accounting For Business.

Unfortunately I do not have the time to see if there are any blogger actually making money so if youknow of any please let me know in the comments bellow.

Having a look at my demographic data shows something interesting. I have an almost equal Maleto Female ratio where things I have marketed in the past have been predominantly male. To methis is another breath of fresh air as well as a pleasant surprise.

Having a quick look at my visitors interests I can see I am doing some things right because I havefor the most part reached what I think is my target audience. However I am also clearly doingsomething wrong because most of my visitors are interested in TV, Arts and Entertainment.

This means I need to adjust my marketing campaign a little bit. Although it is hard to do as I am notrunning any paid marketing and as such there will always be none targeted visitors.

The data on this page is positive news because although this blog is in its early stages I want tofocus on the financial side of passive income both pros and cons. The business side of things aswell as the marketing side. At the moment this blog has been mostly a personal journey which ishard to deviate from but I know in order to hold onto any of these visitors I need to throw them abone. Give them some value that is useful to them rather than just interesting to me.

I am getting a good spread of visitors with the USA being my main source of traffic.

As you can see I have a very diverse source of traffic. My social media comes from my Twitteraccount and like I said earlier you can learn more in my post: How I Increased My Traffic By 2M%& You Can Too

I have 47 referral visits which is good because I have only been running a social campaign at themoment. I did add some links in the signature of Warrior and Sun Webmaster Forums but I don'tthink that is enough to explain 47 hits. I also have 64 direct hits. Somewhere I am gettingrecommendations. This means for most of my traffic I can claim no responsibility which is both niceand scary. Another positive is that I have begun getting search traffic with 9 hits it is less than oneview a day but it all counts.

This is the graph I look at when I question if I am making the right choice. I am considering postingsome more details about my journey before starting this blog.

Here are old posts from an old blog I reloaded:

It's easy to get depressed and discouraged what is not easy is to pick yourself up and keep going.

Some more moral boosting is that alexa have shown a huge boost in my rankings. I am 59.6K inthe UK which I am prety sure is mostly me because as my Google Analytics show higher up in thearticle most of my visitors are from the USA.

If anyone knows how the Alexa rank works please let me know in the comments below.

I've covered the good and alright stuff now I am going to share with you what I think is going wrongand what is stopping me from moving on with this challenge.

This is the Cohort Analysis which show the cumulative effect of my visitors it basically only looks atyour return visitors. (I think, please let me know in comments if I am wrong).

These charts show that although I am collecting a lot of new visitors they drop of within a day andflat line shortly after that.

This tells me that my attempt to add value is not going well. My visitors. You. Are not coming back.So before you go and never come back please let me know what you don't like about my site so Ican work on it. Just a quick comment, please be gentle.

Anyway these charts go hand in hand with the high Bounce rate I've been experiencing. So that isstill something I need to focus on.

As you can see my bounce rate is not dropping it is increasing. So either my attempt to increasevisitors has gone horribly wrong and these are all untargeted visitors which I doubt given that mostvisitors have an interest in what I am blogging about according to google demographic chart.

Or my blog is not that good and I should go back to marketing launches.

But because I am not a quitter… (or at least I try not to be) I will stick with it. You see it may well bethat my targeting and blog need to be improved and tweaked.

In Week 1 my visitors to the blog hovered around 10-40. Now in the past couple of weeks my blogviews have hovered around 10 to twenty which is a drop but if I can solve the bounce rate I shouldstart seeing an increase.

Plans for the next fortnight are to research how to improve my conversions and retention rates.Maybe find a blog or forum that specialises in it so I can learn and improve.

I would also like to research any blogs making any money.

And It would be good to keep posting on forums.
