10. La Branche Plantation – St. Rose, LAA horse rumored to once belong to Adolf Hitler, was reportedly housed at the LaBranche Plantation in St. Charles Parish. Throughout the years, there have been claims of a ghost horse wandering the property and ghostly activity in the last standing dependency.

9. Whitney Plantation – Wallace, LA Legends of ghosts at the Whitney Plantation have been handed down through generations in the small town of Wallace. Ghosts of a woman and an enslaved girl have been seen on the back gallery of the house.

8. Ormond Plantation – Destrehan, LAParanormal activity has been reported at Ormond Plantations since the late 1800’s. Shadow like figures have been seen on the estate. Staff members have also reported a man in 19th century dress as well as a young woman in one of the upstairs rooms.

7. Destrehan Plantation – Destrehan, LASeveral ghosts have been sighted at Destrehan Plantation including one that is thought to be of the Pirate Jean Lafitte. A ghostly figure was captured on camera descending the staircase and a rocking horse was seen moving on its own by staff.

5. Felicite Plantation– Vacherie, LA Paranormal Investigators recorded ghostly footsteps, doors slamming, and disembodied voices throughout the Felicite Plantation house. Evidence of spectral evidence was also recorded at its sister plantation, St. Joseph.

4. Houmas House Plantation– Darrow, LADuring a renovation of the Houmas House Plantation, a little girl was spotted several times by the work crew. The ghost is thought to be of a girl who once resided at Houmas House and died at a young age. The little girl is still seen by staff and tourists.

3. Manchac Swamp – St. John ParishA curse by voodoo priestess, Julia Brown was placed on the tiny town of Frenier in the Manchac Swamp. The area was soon devastated by a powerful hurricane killing many of the town’s residents. Since then strange lights, screams, and apparitions have all been reported The town’s cemetery can still be seen in the Manchac.

2. San Francisco Plantation – Garyville, LAParanormal Investigators captured evidence of Charles Marmillion, the son of a onetime plantation owner, inhabiting San Francisco’s main house. Ghostly children have also been spotted playing in the front lawn.

1. Oak Alley Plantation– Vacherie, LAFrom floating candlesticks to civil war soldiers, many eerie events have been recorded at Oak Alley Plantation over the years. Perhaps its most noted apparition is that of the Lady in Black. She has been spotted and even photographed numerous times.
