Insight #1
Insight #2
There’s no progress without constraints: “The more constraints one imposes,
the more one frees one’s self.” - Igor Stravinsky
Insight #3
If you’re to get paid for something, you have to find a need that’s not being met. If you’re going to maximize your value to
the marketplace, you have to leverage your strengths. Nothing great will ever achieved without challenge and struggle - embrace it.
Insight #4
Failure sucks, but only if you don’t grow from it. Give yourself permission to grief, but
always separate yourself from the shame.
Insight #5
“Empathy’s the antidote to shame. The two most powerful words when we’re in struggle:
me too.” - Brene Brown on shame
Insight #6
If you want failure to be anything but emotionally catastrophic, you need
to plan to fail. Part of that plan, in addition to a focus on recovery time, is surrounding yourself
with an inner circle that’s always supportive.
Insight #7
Disruptors hardly fish where everyone else is fishing, for they discover their greatest
opportunities in unknown territories.
Insight #8
“Most people don’t form a self and then lead a life. They are called by a problem, and the self
is constructed gradually by their calling.” - David Brooks on discovery
Insight #9
Learning is not linear, but exponential: there is a cumulative and compounding effect. If you do something disruptive today, then the
probability that you can be disruptive tomorrow increases. Momentum creates momentum.
Insight #10
“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I
want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been
‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
- Steve Jobs
