Baking Soda for Cleaning

Baking soda is a very effective cleaner AND good for the skin.

Did you ever clean your oven and have to throw open the doors and windows and keep your children and pets out of the room? Imagine the ill effects on your health from prolonged use of such cleaners? Did you know that baking soda is a very effective, safe cleaner AND its kind to your hands? Add a few drops of your chosen essential oils to a box or shaker of baking soda, sprinkle on counter tops, tiles, bins, sinks, cooker tops and ovens and wipe with a sponge. Sparkly clean!! Baking soda absorbs unpleasant odours while intensifying the essential oil aromas so you can shake some in the bin, or leave a small container in the fridge. It also works in the cat’s litter tray and the cat didn’t object!

Bananas are hypoallergenic, gentle and particularly good in a mask for dry skin Simply mash the banana. Optional extras would be honey for the extra moisturising effect and sugar or ground up flax seeds for exfoliating. Apply to the face and neck and leave on for 10 to 20 minutes gently massaging the area to enhance the effect. Remove with rosewater, witch hazel or cold chamomile tea. It is a little messy but totally worth it when you see the glow of your skin

Epsom Salts Baths for Pain Relief

www.essentialsholistic.com

Simply add a cupful of Epsom salts to a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes. The salts have a drying effect on the skin, so you will need to moisturise afterwards. Wait 20 minutes after the bath before applying Olive oil or sweet almond oil. They are lovely natural moisturisers and they have their own painkilling properties. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant or have a heart or kidney disease consult a GP Before using Epsom salts. Those with sensitive skin should do a patch test before using Epsom salts

Epsom salts draw toxins from the body, relax the muscles and sedate the nervous system. In addition they reduce swelling and exfoliate the skin.
