Coming into this season, there were plenty of questionmarks surrounding the Platte County High School foot-ball team.
At the top of the list was this: how were the Piratesgoing to fill the void left by the loss of 17 starters, partic-ularly all-everything quarterback Krae Kelso? Not fardown the list were questions about the Platte County run-ning game and itsdefense.
Consider allthose questionsanswered andwith an exclama-tion point, to

With just one game left in the regular
season, the Platte County soccer team’sseniors are looking to cement their legacyas one of the best classes to come throughthe school, and if nothing else, be knownas good leaders.
“We definitely want a district title,”senior captain Brandon Geiger said. “Wewant to beat Smithville and we want toshow that we were leaders. We haven’t hadgood leadership in the past, so that’s theonly legacy I want to leave behind – thatI was a good leader.”
The leadership aspect was one headcoach Ashlyn Brantley thought might betougher than it actually has been.
“It can be a lot of leaders trying to take
over, but it’s actually been really good thisseason,” Brantley said. “The team hasneeded it. They’ve led very well through-out the season.”
This is Brantley’s first class of playersshe has coached all four years, and she saidit is going to be a little sentimental whenthe season comes to a close and she has tosay goodbye to her 12 seniors.
