Every day, we are faced with a myriad of choices. Our lives are comprised of the choices that we make. We are constantly faced with choosing between alternatives... choosing between right and wrong... choosing to be happy or sad... choosing to forgive or not... choosing to learn and grow from our mistakes and trials or allowing them to make us bitter, resentful and covetous... choosing all of those things that are important to us. Some choices are simple, some are complex; but ALL serve to make up the character of who we are. Choose wisely!

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live! Choose to love the LORD your God and to obey him and commit yourself to him, for he is your life. Then you will live long in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors.~Deuteronomy 30:19,20 (NLT)~

You didn’t have to work for this land-I gave it to you. Now you live in towns you didn’t build, and you eat grapes and olives from vineyards and trees you didn’t plant. Then Joshua told the people: Worship the LORD, obey him, and always be faithful. Get rid of the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived on the other side of the Euphrates River and in Egypt. But if you don’t want to worship the LORD, then choose right now! Will you worship the same idols your ancestors did? Or since you’re living on land that once belonged to the Amorites, maybe you’ll worship their gods. I won’t. My family and I are going to worship and obey the LORD!~Joshua 24:13-15 (CEV)~

Jake, the rancher, went one dayTo fix a distant fence. The wind was cold and gusty And the clouds rolled gray and dense.

As he pounded the last staple in And gathered tools to go, The temperature had fallen, Snow and wind began to blow.

When he finally reached his pickup, He felt a heavy heart. From the sound of that ignition He knew it wouldn’t start.

So Jake did what the most of us Would do if we’d been there. He humbly bowed his balding head And sent aloft a prayer.

As he turned the key for the final time, He softly cursed his luck; They found him three days later, Frozen stiff in that old truck.

Now Jake had been around in life And done his share of roaming. But when he saw Heaven, he was shocked -- It looked just likeWyoming !

Of all the saints in Heaven, His favorite was St. Peter . They sat and talked a minute or two, Or maybe it was three. (Nobody was keeping’ score --) In Heaven, time is free.

‘I’ve always heard,’ Jake said to Pete , ‘that God will answer prayer, But one time I asked for help, Well, he just plain wasn’t there.’

‘Does God answer prayers of some, And ignore the prayers of others? That don’t seem exactly square -- I know all men are brothers.’

‘Or does he randomly reply, Without good rhyme or reason? Maybe, it’s the time of day, The weather or the season.’

‘Now I ain’t trying to act as smart, It’s just the way I feel. And I was wondering’, could you tell me -- What the heck’s the deal?!’

Peter listened very patiently And when Jake was finally done, There were smiles of recognition, And he said, ‘So, you’re the one!!’

That day your truck, it wouldn’t start, And you sent your prayer a flying, You gave us all a real bad time, With hundreds of us trying.’

‘A thousand angels rushed to check, The status of your file, But you know what, Jake , we had not heard From you in quite a long while.’

‘And though all prayers are answered, And God ain’t got no quota, He did not recognize your voice, And started a truck in Minnesota ‘

If someone gave you $100, how could you use that gift to share God’s love, one person at a time? During the month of October our worship theme is Radical Together: Living Your Commitment and we will be talking about how to live radically for God in our world. Our call is not just to exist as Chris-tians, but to live faithfully to God’s call to share his love with the world.

Beginning October 9, we will be giving classes, groups, teams, committees, etc. the opportunity to get outside the box and do something radical in our community. For the last four weeks of October, we will not have donuts during fellowship time between 9:40 and 11:00 services. Instead, we will be giving the money normally spent on donuts ($100 each week) to groups to do something radical and to share God’s love in the community. You could buy a hundred burgers off a value menu and give them away downtown to the homeless. You might pick up a few dozen flowers and take them door to door in the neighborhood just to say “God loves you.” What will you do? Throughout October, we will be telling the stories of each group and how we are sharing God’s love, one person at a time. If your group wants to participate, find the form elsewhere in the newsletter and send the info to Pastor Katie.

What could your group do with $100?

Car Care Ministry Warm weather is here, time to get the battery and fluids checked now for the winter. All it takes is an email or phone call. While I have worked on some folks’ cars, there are far too many out there who have not. Remember, it costs nothing except for the parts.

(1) You can schedule an appointment any day of the week by calling me. (2) If you don't know what parts to get, call me and I will help you. (3) Don’t get stranded in the cold; now is the time to get everything checked out. (4) It is free but for the cost of a few parts. Please contact Ron Mucci at [email protected] or 918-299-3022.

Working with the Faith United Employment Ministry was a very pleasurable experience. After spending some time with Jennifer Lyon on the phone and going over my employment history, she made some helpful suggestions to modify my resume. The Employment Ministry team then sent my resume to a networking contact at a transportation/trucking company. This introduction landed me my first interview with them, and now the rest is history. I started my new position on Octo-

ber 3rd. Knowing that there were caring people helping me within the ministry to network and pray for my success, was a very welcome comfort. I would highly rec-ommend the Faith United Employment Ministry to anyone either looking for a posi-tion or looking to fill a position. Thank you for all your help and prayers. Sincerely, Brad Hill
