station .As at the time the stations was commissioned, all

operations could be done in the control room. For example

opening and closing of a breaker or isolator etc. At the point of

commissioning there were 2*150MVA transformers at Ayede

330KV and 2*30MVA at Ayede 132KV. Ayede Area Control is

one of the nine (9) sub region under Oshogbo Regional Control

VALUE ADDED AND EXPERIENCE GAINED

Being the first time I was exposed to real life or practical Electrical Operations, I was

overwhelmed by the Equipment and their Operations and I was intimidated that there is

still a lot to learn as regarding the field, but I was determined to gather as much as

possible knowledge and experience. These are some of the Experience gained and value

added.

The exposure gave me the practical understanding of a course we did in 400 level (EEE411) which is about power generally, the exposure made me to really understand the Transmission part very well.

The attachment gave the technical knowledge to be able to talk in electrical terms especially in the power aspect.

The attachment also made me to be able to explain to people reason why there can be outage (Power Supply failure) as they always thinks the NEPA people so called can just decide anytime to open their feeder, therefore cursing them.

The attachment also trained me to always be regular and punctual to work

The attachment also trained me to adapt to various kinds of work environment.

The attachment widened my innovativeness and problem solving ability

The attachment improved my communication skills.

The attachment also improved my leadership skills.

The attachment improved my productivity rate.

The attachment improved my self and work discipline.

CONCLUSION

The programme is a very successful one, with such training as that

experienced from the SIWES programme, it has created a connection

platform between the theoretical and practical aspect of my field of

study;

It has helped me build up my innovative and creative thinking abilities

needed to be an excellent design engineer;

It has also imbibed in me the cautious mentality as the slightest error or

negligence might cause an entire system to fail or crumble.

RECOMMENDATIONS Upcoming students should ensure that they are regular and punctual at

their respective place of attachment as well as prepare their mind to

learn from their superiors;

The ITF and FUTA should ensure adequate and effective supervision

of the students during the SIWES program.
