1-Year Discipleship Program

Page 2: 1-Yea˜ Discipleshi˚ Progra˛ - Camp Cedarwood

What if you gave a year of your life to intentionally focus on learning

to serve and follow Christ? What will Jesus do with your life when you abide in Him?

is a 12-month discipleship program that combines ministry and theology training with

community life. Students of The Branch will learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ in all areas of life. They will spend time learning in class and time serving with Cedarwood sta in many areas of camp ministry. We will walk alongside each other with the common goal of serving and becoming more like Christ. Expect it to be diicult. Expect it to be life-changing. Expect to find joy

in the Gospel!I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I

in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. -John 15:5

is a ministry of YFC Winnipeg. We are a year round rental facility

and summer camp. Each summer we share the good news of Jesus to almost 800 teenagers. We love to have fun with

and build relationships with whoever enters our doors! During the year we

provide a safe and fun facility to school groups, churches and youth groups. At Cedarwood you can enjoy a variety of

activities including our climbing wall and high ropes course,

mountain biking, and paintball.

Christian Young AdultsThe Branch is for single highschool grads, ages 18-23 who have counted the cost of laying their lives down for Christ. You don't have to have it all together but you should be intentionally seeking Jesus and wanting to live your life in service to Him.

A Passion for Youth MinistryYouth ministry is what Cedarwood and YFC are all about. We want our Branch students to be ready to invest their time into the lives of teenagers with the goal of sharing the Gospel.

A Desire to Learn and GrowWe are looking for teachable young adults ready to develop roots and a strong foundation in the Gospel and the Bible. Whether you have grown up in the church or have newly come to faith we want you to be able to read and prepare for class, participate in discussions, and listen to instruction. Our hope is that you grow in the knowledge and wisdom from the Bible and experience the life change that knowing and following Jesus brings.

Flexibility and a Sense of AdventureThe nature of youth ministry is that not everything goes as planned or looks the same from week to week. We are looking for students who are able to “go with the flow” and are up for whatever life in this community brings them. We are looking for a willingness to participate more than a variety of skills and abilities.

A Commitment to CommunityCommunity is a huge part of Cedarwood and The Branch. For us living as a community is more than just sharing a home or a work space. We are friends and family. We share what we have, hang out together and learn from each other. Our lunch tables are places of discussion on theology or the latest world events or sharing a funny video we saw. Some evenings we gather and play games or watch a movie. We value our community and want you to do the same.

Camp CommunityThe Branch oers you a unique opportunity to live in a community of Christians for almost a year. You will learn and work alongside other students as well as alongside the sta who live and work at Cedarwood. Life in community presents you with challenges and opportunities to grow that you wouldn't find on your own. In community you can work out your faith in the everyday stu of life and build friendships that will support you in your faith journey and last a lifetime.Interactive Learning TimesFrom Monday-Friday we spend 3-4 hours a day digging into theology. We have times of upfront teaching and discussion based learning all mixed in together. We will explore and discuss foundational Christian truths like: the attributes of God, the local Church, Prayer, Biblical Personhood, and developing a Biblical worldview. You can look forward to reading some books of the Bible and discussing. Some of our time will also be spent watching videos, listening to music and discussing topics and questions that you suggest.Learn Practical SkillsAs a summer camp and rental facility Cedarwood has many areas to grow and learn in. You can have the opportunity to learn how to: run a climbing wall and high ropes course, lead an archery skill, mountain bike, build a bonfire, etc. Other kinds of skills may be learned while serving in the kitchen or on our maintenance team. Closer to summer there may be a chance to become a lifeguard or take a first aid course. We want to help you gain practical skills that will serve you in ministry.Serving OthersThe Branch will give you opportunities to serve others in a variety of ways. This may include cleaning the lodge, helping in food services, hosting our rental groups or helping to maintain our lodge and grounds. In summer you will serve as part of our summer camp sta in sharing the gospel with teenagers. During the year there may also be opportunities to care for the camp kids while parents have a meeting or a date. Youth Ministry ExperienceAt The Branch we want to live out what we've been learning in the classroom so we go do that! We serve at YFC Winnipeg in the dropin, climbing wall and other ministries. At Cedarwood we run an amazing summer camp which we give practical hands-on training in the areas of leading and sharing the gospel with teenagers. You will learn what it means to build relationships and share the gospel with teenagers. Our Beautiful Camp SettingThe Branch finds its home at Camp Cedarwood on the beautiful Canadian Shield in Manitoba. We are surrounded by God’s creation including a nice lake,a variety of wildlife, and many rocks and trees to explore. In the fall you can take a prayer walk through our trails or play a game of soccer on the field. In the winter months enjoy a game of ice hockey on the lake or go cross country skiing. There is a suspension bridge nearby plus many hiking trails to visit.
