Nesta’s Vision of a People- Powered, Knowledge-Powered Health System Now

Self-Care – expand the sphere of self-care to include activities currently within the domain of health professionals – ie. Patients administering their own kidney dialysis in Jönköping, Sweden.

Consultations – Flipped consultations are being piloted – tests and symptom checks are done outside the consultation room and appointments are used to actively plan care. Group consultations – one clinician and several patients with the same LTC in an active learning environment.

FutureWearable technology – Advancements in technology resulting in pervasive data collection allows constant, mobile health checks. This makes it easier for both patients and their doctors to track and manage their own health day to day New kinds of consultation – Conversations between people and healthcare professionals will become more collaborative, shifting the power to the patient. Conversations are structured to encourage and support patients to become active participants in their own health. Mobilised communities – Expert patients and carers plat a semi-professional role as coaches, therapists and leaders of groups with similar medical experience and care needs. Creates a network of volunteers and non-clinical professionals to support people on a daily basis
