Slide 4
At the end, it’s all about money…
1. After the project is registered, the countdown starts. The longer your project takes, the less money you get.
2. UNFCCC Regulations are complex and changes are regularly. At the same time PDD’s are not 100% complete or lead to misinterpretation. Adjustments on site can occur but the PDD is the MASTER.

Competence
3. Humans intend to choose the most economical solution which is directly linked to the performance. For CDM projects, measuring performance is directly linked with the amount of CER’s.

Reliability
4. Every plant shutdown is a loss of money. The time to fix the problem is important.

What are the drivers for CDM investors?
On the example of a PDD:
Fossil fuel replacement with Methane capture from anaerobic digestion of bio waste.
The solution has to be:
As efficient as possible
Easy and fast to implement
Lowest risk in CDM validation process
Fastest return of investment
Durable to ensure the Verification after years of operation

The proven way
Of course, there are many other ways between how to build a Biogas plant, but
there is not much flexibility in the way to engineer a CDM project…
Our competence and our solutions will help to
implement the CDM Biogas projects much faster and doubtless proven.

Accuracy is important for best ROI
Application example:
An average Palm Oil extraction plant
is processing 500t palm fruits per day.
Using the effluent to produce biogas,
the plant is able to generate
500,000 Euro (22 M THB) /a CER
Means 1,500-2,000 Euro (66,000-
88,000 THB) /d CER
Questions:
- How many days do you need to clarify with several suppliers several possible solutions?
- How do you control the delivery time of several suppliers?
- Who is doing the service for all the different instruments?
- 1-stop-shopping means 1 contact for all clarifications, procurement & services. You will save time and reduce risk…

Business Model ” Example of ROI calculation
ROI example of a typical Palm Oil:A mid size Palm Oil Mill with capacity of 60t FFB / h ( Fresh fruit Bunches) and 10h/d working time will produce 500m3 POME/d (Palm Oil Mill Effluent) with an estimated COD value of 60- 70.000 mg/l
Biogas production /1m3 POME with 60 000 mg/l COD = 27.00 m3 Biogas (Norm)Methane Efficiency of POME 70%Vol. = 18.90 m3 MethaneCarbon Dioxide 20%Vol. = 5.40 m3 Carbon DioxideWater vapor 7%Vol. = 1.90 m3 MoistureHydrogen Sulfide H2S 2.5%Vol. = 0.67 m3 H2SOthers gases 0.5%Vol. = 1.35 m3 other gases
Mass / Density of Methane: 0.717 kg/m3, 18.9m3 CH4 = 13.55 kg Methane GWP (Global Warming Potential): x 21 = 284.60 kg CO2eq / m3 POME
Energy content: POME 500m3/d = 20.80 m3/h POME (continuous flow)Methane Production = 393.12 m3/h CH4
CH4 Energy content 10kWh/m3 = 3931.00 kWh/h CH4
CHP conversion 32% electricity = 1179 kW/h = 1.18 MW/h
CER’s (Carbon Emission Reductions) per year (300 working days)Calculation : 500m3
POME/d*360d*18.9m3CH4/m
3POME* 0.717kg/m
3CH4*21GWP/1000 = 51 223 t CO2e / a
Remark: Minus Leakage, energy consumption, etc. Estimated CER price : 13EUR / 1t CO2e
Total generated CER’s = 1.850 EUR (81,400 THB) / d= 55.500 EUR (2.44 M THB) /m= 666.000 EUR (29.3 M THB) /a

Carbosys solution CDE70
CARBOSYS CH4
Is a fully integrated system, build in an air conditioned
cabinet with Memograph, gas composition measurement and
gas humidity measurement.
The solution is engineered with a safety concept for
hazardous areas and highest availability.
Accuracy is important:each % accuracy loss will cause
3,000-7,000 EUR loss/a of CER’s (132,000-308,000 THB)
Our max. uncertainty is 4.09% at the standard unit, with auto cal of gas composition measurement we reach <2.5%

Offering - Flow measurement - Summary
Prowirl (Vortex flow measurement)
“ Minimal flow rate has to be >10% of the measuring range “ The Vortex has more weight than dp-Flow “ Higher price but lower maintenance
Deltatop (Differential pressure flow measurement)
“ Even measuring results under low flow rate (increased uncertainty)“ Deltatop is according ISO 5167 “ Simple calibration over on site Zero-Point adjustment of dp-sensor and
orifice plate inspection
For the CDM measurement the accuracy of the flow measurement is important to get the most CO2eq and therefore the best ROI.

Service Strategy for CDE70
The fundamentals of the CDM solution is a certified and GMP conform system
controlled by an external authority. The customer has therefore only limited access
and maintenance task.
“ Visual Control of tubing and pumps.
“ Cleaning of the cabinet“ Confirm Alarm settings
“ Recalibration“ Replacement consumables“ Replacement spare parts“ Inside Cleaning of the cabinet
Customer responsibility: Endress+Hauser responsibility:
All actions on the Carbosys are monitored and recorded. Even open the door must be assigned and justified.

On-site calibration with Master Meter
General Advantages
Little down time
Meter will be checked under process conditions
Cost are low (if equipment & trained people are available)
General Disadvantages
In general: Achievable accuracy is limited- for CDM projects no issue because Vortex & dp-flow
In general: Equipment and trained people must be available - E+H has already invested in equipment and Cal. Engineers
Cost for test equipment and manpower can be high - E+H has already invested in equipment and Cal. Engineers
Limits in flow rates- for CDM projects no issue because small line sizes
minimal process Shutdown

Slide 36
Experienced pitfalls of monitoring, metering & calibration
Buying the most economical monitoring solution results in…
…in lower total accuracy (loss of CER)
…lower quality products (more downtime, loss of CER)
…several instruments from several suppliers with sometimes different interfaces (replace or
modify instrument, additional cost, additional time)
Choosing metering equipment without consulting the experts before results in…
…wrong instruments or measuring principle in place (e.g. absolute pressure, thermal mass
flow)
Using untrained people for calibration services without proper equipment results in
…no SOP’s available (DOE probably wants to see it), higher downtime, more risk (e.g.
wrong parameterisation of the instruments afterwards)
