From the Secretaries’ Desk REMINDER OF ITEMS NEEDED: Decorative Socks, 15 oz Cans, and Colorful Exterior Paints. In addition, we always take Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels throughout the year. UPDATED BACKGROUND CHECK INFO. As you all know, employees & volunteers that work closely with our children must complete the Safe & Sacred Child Protection Program, along with a background check. The Safe & Sacred Program is a one time program and the background check must be performed every 5 years. If you have already completed our Safe & Sacred Program, you do not need to be concerned about this information. You do need to be sure your background check has been within the past 5 years. Changes to the Safe & Sacred program are: l. A background check at the end of the program must be done before you will be issued a certificate. If you do not need a background check now, Barada, the background check provider, will not duplicate the background check. 2. The certificate will be e-mailed to you 2-3 days after you take the Safe & Sacred Program & your background check is approved or verified to be within the past 5 years. Please print off the certificate and send to the office or e-mail the certificate directly to your child's teacher. 3. You must plan ahead if you want to attend a field trip or work with our students in the classroom. These are Archdiocese rules and we must be in compliance with them. Thank you for your understanding.

TYSON LABELS For each Tyson label St Louis redeems, we receive $0.24! Tyson A+ labels are on many Tyson Chicken and other Tyson products. Look for the 'Support Your School' logo on the bag or box, cut it out, and send it in with your Campbells labels and Boxtops. St Louis has set a goal of collecting 100 labels between now and the end of the school year. If we reach this goal, the whole school receives an OUT OF UNIFORM day! To keep track of our goal, Mr Moeller has a poster hung beside his office, so we can keep track of our progress. GENERAL MILLS BOXTOPS CONTEST HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL MONDAY THE 27TH. General Mills Boxtops Contest Congratulations to Mrs Lents' class for bringing in the most boxtops on Mon! Their out of uniform day is TBA. The boxtops contest is being extended; the last day of the contest is now Mon, Oct 27. To assist with tallying boxtops submitted during the contest, a collection sheet is attached. Please have your child(ren) glue 25 boxtops to each sheet and return it with their name and grade. (Please ONLY tape or glue the boxtops to the sheet. Bonus boxtops must be counted separately, do not attach to the submission sheets.) Thank you to all who have submitted already. Winners of the ice cream treat will be announced next week. YOUTH GROUP - JR. HIGH RETREAT The deadline for the registration forms for the Jr. High Retreat has been extended to Friday, October 24th. I will be confirming our total numbers to the Batesville deanery coordinator after youth group on Friday, so if you would like to sign up, please bring the form to youth group Friday afternoon or drop off at the parish office before 2:30 on Friday. We still need to parents to help transport youth to and from Camp Woodsmoke. Please let me know if you can help with this. Also, please remember that this Friday's youth group will be a walking trip to Safe Passage. We will be accepting gently used stuffed animals and blankets, as well as Bibles until Friday. A walking field trip form is also attached. Let me know if you have any questions :) 4TH/5TH GRADE SERVICE PROJECT For the 4th/5th grade service project at the end of Oct, we are looking for decorative socks (any size, any color, doesn't have to match, clean, old or new) and vegetable/fruit cans (empty, clean and the size around 15 oz). Thank you.
STUDENT COUNCIL LOLLIPOP SALE There will not be any more lollipops for sale during October. They have sold out. Thank you for your participation in this fundraiser. STUDENT COUNCIL COSTUME COLLECTION

SPOTLIGHT ON TECHNOLOGY How are your child's typing skills? Your child can practice their typing skills in a variety of ways. Some of the students have the app Tap Trainer. This app allows them to practice their typing skills. Some of the teachers have links on their websites that the students can use to practice typing skills, and test how many words per minute the student can type. Here is the website for typing skill. http://www.freetypinggame.net/play4.asp RIF BOOK DISTRIBUTION From the library: RIF Book distribution for the Fall will be the week of October 27th. Students in grades K-3 will receive a free RIF book during their library class this week instead of at the annual Halloween party. This is part of the Reading Is Fundamental program at St. Louis. The Book distribution is held two times a year, at Halloween and again on Valentine's Day. RIF Is a National Reading Incentive program that is subsidized by the PTO. It is meant to help instill a love of reading by placing a free book in the student's hands. Students choose their own book from many titles made available to them. MUSICAL NOTES The first musical performance of the year is quickly approaching! The third graders will present a patriotic program on Monday, November 3 at 7:00 PM in the Activity Center. The focus is on honoring our veterans, so please feel free to invite any friends or family members you think would enjoy it! Third grade students should arrive between 6:40 and 6:50 so we can start on time. Students should wear dressy clothes – please no jeans, tshirts, sweatshirts, etc. Any questions can be directed to Miss Kushman. Choir students will be performing at the Live Nativity hosted by St. Anthony’s in Morris. We will perform on Friday, December 12, immediately following the blessing at 5:00.
