B.EAM related higher education requirements

• Key modules for an EAM related Master curriculum

• EAM related education mainly in „science“ departments

• International context of EAM related education

• EAM related education - academic context, programme implementation, programme requirements

Page 15: 1 Requirements and needs of East and South East Asian countries in the context of EAM Ingrid Belčáková, Faculty of Architecture, STU, EIA Centre TwoEA-M.

15

Based on an analysis of standard EA related master programmes, key curriculum modules were identified – would you include the same modules?

1. Environmental assessment2. Principles for environmental

assessment3. Environmental managment

systems4. Environmental and Ecological

Economics5. Organisational Behaviour and

Public Decision Making

18

According to analysis, EAM related higher education is mainly happening in science departments. Would you have expected this and do you think this is the same in

your country you are aware of?

1. The same as yours

2. Not the same

20

To what extent do you think the EAM related degree programe you are involved with integrates

international context and how?

• Not applicable• Theoretical inputs, technology,

analytical methods and best practices• High degree of integration

(international students, international case studies, international sourcebooks, exchange programmes, visting lecturers, joint research projects

• Little international context• At master degree level

Page 21: 1 Requirements and needs of East and South East Asian countries in the context of EAM Ingrid Belčáková, Faculty of Architecture, STU, EIA Centre TwoEA-M.

21

• Based on analysis of EA related master programmes in EU member states, the template providing useful information for prospective international students has been made (See example )Can you use the format presented below to judge the three broad headings of Academic Context, Programme implementation, Programme requirements and scope in terms of being highly similar, similar, somewhat similar, different.

Recommendations

• Fields of further EU – Asia EAM related education cooperation

• Suggestions

Page 25: 1 Requirements and needs of East and South East Asian countries in the context of EAM Ingrid Belčáková, Faculty of Architecture, STU, EIA Centre TwoEA-M.

25

Do you think that for further EU – Asia EAM related education cooperation it

would be necessary to:1. a. find out the predominant goals of mobility2. b. to elaborate the common ground of credit

systems and learning outcomes in Asia and Europe

3. c. to promote joint developments of study programmes between Asian and European universities, but not necessarily with double or joint degree (at BA, MA and/or doctoral level)

4. d. to improve interregional cooperation in the field of quality insurance

5. e. to set up a network of Asian and European experts of higher education for improving information and advice

What suggestions do you have for better EAM related education cooperation between EU and

East, South East Asia in the future?

• Promotion of accompanying relevant theories, openess to EAM and constant dialogue and/or intellectual and/or experimental exchanges

• Give a series of lectures about European EAM to students in East, South East Asia and collect opinions from the students

• Sustainable networking, joint research, teaching exchanges• A student exchange programme over summer followed by

enhancing the ties among lecturers from both continents by conducting research together having a visiting fellowship programme, then we can move on to promoting a joint degree programme

• Exchanging practices and methodologies of EAM programs between EU and Asia is a very good opportunity to enhance our education, more mobilities in the future

• More teacher interaction and module exchanges
