PRINCIPAL 2015 Student Leaders: Best wishes to the Year 5 boys who have been nominated for a chance to be elected into one of the four student leadership positions for 2015. On Friday at the primary assembly the nominees will be presenting speeches outlining their personal attributes that would contribute to being a good leader of MPS. These students are giving themselves a chance of success by nominating as a student leader candidate. I am sure, the students also understand about taking a risk and as there are only four positions, possibly missing out and being a little disappointed. However, good on you boys for having a go and taking a chance. Your teachers will be proud of you on Friday, your parents will be very proud of you and you will be personally enriched and stronger for the experience. Go for it! State Athletics: Congratulations to Jayda Craigie and Kye Boland on representing Moree Public School at the NSW PSSA athletics carnival at Homebush last week. Jayda represented in the shotput and Kye in the 100 metres. Being selected to participate against the best from all over NSW is a wonderful achievement and from all reports, both students performed very well. Congratulations, Jayda and Kye! P&C Meeting: The P&C meeting held last night was very productive. It is great to see many parents taking an active interest in our school. As parents are aware (through previous newsletter survey) the P&C has been discussing possible changes to the school sports uniform. Attached to this newsletter is a final survey on a proposed change and I encourage all parents to respond by returning the slip. Should a change be ratified by a majority of MPS families, the change will not take effect until later in 2015 with a transition phase where both uniforms are acceptable. Uniform variations must always incorporate such a period to ensure no family or regular uniform stockist will be financially burdened. Assembly: Congratulations to 2L-32 and Miss Larken and to 5/6M- 14 and Mr McDonald on hosting fabulous assemblies last Friday. Our infants assembly hosts delighted the audience with a wonderful performance of the Bamboo dance. Moree Public School - the Musical was the theme for the 5/6M-14 performance. The audience was treated to an outstanding musical comedy with live singing and polished acting based upon an extremely clever, original script. Congratulations also to 2014 captains, Josie Orr and Braith Rohde, who both spoke eloquently about the role of being a student leader. On Friday the infants assembly will be hosted by Miss Rigby and KR-8 at 10:30 am in the hall adjacent to the office. The primary assembly will be at 11:20 am in the new hall with Mr Burgess and 3B-21 as our hosts. Grandparents Day: Grandparents have always played a valuable role in our society by offering care, love and guidance to their children and grandchildren. Sunday 26 October is Grandparents Day. At Moree Public School we recognise the contribution Grandparents make to the lives of children. We certainly encourage all families to treat grandparents to a special day on Sunday – an extra cuddle and perhaps a cup of tea and toast! Visiting the School: Moree Public School welcomes visitors and it is wonderful to see parents coming to help with reading groups, to watch assemblies and sporting events. In the interest of everyone’s safety we do need to know who is in the school at any time. Therefore, all visitors (parents, friends and trades people) must register at the office prior to going into the school grounds. However, those issued with a regular parent helper pass may go to the classroom as indicated on the badge. Should you need to give your child a message, lunch, money or other item, please deliver this to the school office and a staff member will make arrangements for it to be given to your child. Similarly, if you need to collect your children from school for an unavoidable appointment or illness, please send a brief note to the class teacher, outlining the time for collection and attend the office upon arrival. Your child will be sent to the office at the time indicated. Parent support in continuing to follow this process will be appreciated. Mr Adrian King 2. P&C ASSOCIATION MEETING: The next P&C meeting will be held on Monday, 17 th November commencing at 6.00pm in the school library. CHRISTMAS RAFFLE: Tickets were attached last week to the infants family newsletters and this week to the primary, for this annual fundraising event – amazing hampers of goodies to be won. Please return sold & unsold tickets on Wed 10 th December for the draw. Tuesday, 21 st October 2014

Please return to school office by Friday, 31st October

I support the proposed variation to sports uniform as shown above: YES / NO

Please circle your answer

My children are in grade/s: K I 2 3 4 5 6 All parents are encouraged to respond by returning this slip. Should a change be ratified by a majority of MPS families, the change will not take effect until later in 2015 with a transition phase where both uniforms are acceptable.
