Shortly after Adam and Eve ate the fruitfrom "the tree of the knowledge of good

and evil“. They suddenly were awarethat they were naked and immediatelysewed fig leaves together to coverthemselves.

Adam said that he hid from God

because he was afraid for Him to seehim naked, indicating a newlydiscovered sense of shame This was

wrong, as there should be no shame innakedness before God or between ahusband and wife. However, nakedness

is not appropriate when other peopleenter the picture. Immediately afternoting that other human beings wouldcome through Eve, the Bible says thatGod made clothes out of animal skins tocover the first couple (Genesis 3:20-21).
