Scientificdevicessuchasthisdataloggerrequiretheusertohaveanintimateknowledgeofthemeter,itsoperation,therequiredsoftware,andthemeterspecificationspriortouse.CO2Meter,Inc.highlyrecommendsreadingthisuser’smanualbeforeoperatingthedevice,especiallytheImportantSafeguardssectionabove.

LoggingDataOncetheGasLab®softwarehasbeeninstalledandthemeterisconnectedtothecomputer,youcangatherdatainavarietyofways.Dependingonthetypeofmeter,datacanbecollectedinrealtime,datalogscanbedownloadedfromthemeter’smemory(ifequipped),andsavedtothecomputer,anddatacanbereviewedonthemeter’sLCDdisplay(ifequipped).Foreachloggingsession

theCO2sensortimetowarm‐upandcalibrate.3. Setthelogginginterval(min30sec)asdesiredandcommencelogging.4. Whendataloggingiscompleted,turnthemeterOFF.

SettingtheLoggingIntervalTochangethedefaultsettings,connectthemetertoacomputerusingtheincludedUSBcable.Selectthedesiredmeter,andchangethesettings.NOTE:RefertotheGasLab®User’sManualforcompleteinstructions.DisplayandAlarm(CM‐0016,CM‐0017only)Thisdataloggingmeterincludesabuilt‐inaudible(80dB)alarmandanLCD(LiquidCrystalDisplay)displaythatprovidesvisualindicationofthecurrentCO2levelbychangingcolortogreen,yelloworred,dependingonCO2levelrangesselected.ThedisplaywillchangecolorsdependingontheactualCO2levelreadingsbysettingthe“Green”,“Yellow”,and“Red”ranges.ThealarmissetperLEEDIAQlevelsbydefaultbutcanbeprogrammedtootherstandardssuchasOSHAlevelsusingtheGasLab®software.Thenewalarmlevelwillbemaintainedinthemeter’smemory.Duringoperation,whenthemeteristurnedon,andwhenthehighconcentrationCO2levelprogrammedisreached,an80dBalarmwillsound.Thealarmcanbemutedfor30secondsbypressingthebuttononthefrontofthemeter.ThisfeaturecanbechangedinGasLab®.

CalibrationTheCO2sensor,inIAQapplicationsonly,usesanalgorithmcalledAutomaticBackgroundCalibration(ABC)toensuremaximumaccuracybycontinuouslyadjustingthezero‐point.TheABCalgorithmallowstheCO2sensortodynamicallyshiftitsCO2readingbyaconstant.ItworksviastoringthelowestCO2sampletakenovertheABCPeriodandassumingthatthislowvalueisequaltoaknownvalue(thetargetvalue).ItthenadjuststheoutputoftheCO2readingbythedeltabetweenthesevalues.Thisalgorithmdoesnotaffectthelinearizationoftheoutputsignal.Forexample,bydefaultABCisenabledwithanABCPeriodof180hours,atargetvalueof400ppm,andamaximumdeltaof30ppm.Thisoperatesundertheprinciplethatambient,outdoorairisat400ppm.

ThesensorwillkeeptrackofthelowestCO2readingrecordedoveraperiodof180hoursandthenadjustthezeropoint,upto30ppmatatime,towardsthatvalue.Toensuremaximumaccuracyitisrecommendedtoinstallthedeviceinanenvironmentthatwillroutinelyseethislowvalue.Inaddition,thismetercanbeexposedtofreshairforafewminutesbetweenusestoverifycalibrationbymakingsurethereadingsarecloseto400ppm,orcanbemanuallycalibratedusingtheGasLab®software.
