Welcome to the University of Rochester!

ello and welcome to the University of Rochester! Although college life is not new to you, UR is likely quite different from your previous institution. Your Orientation Program will show you how to navigate the university, preparing you for life at your new home. It will cover a wide range of topics and information to ensure a smooth transition to your future success here at Rochester.

Communication is the most important aspect of a new transfer student’s time at UR; if you need support, ask for it. Faculty, fellow students, and the various campus offices are here to assist you during and after your transition. The events that take place during Orientation should supply you with all the resources and contact information necessary to properly support yourself here at your new University.

SWARM for 199:10pm - 10:10pm Chapel, Interfaith Chapel

Being a better bystander means stepping up when a situation may be harmful to those around you. SWARM aims to educate and inform students about alcohol using a harm reduction approach. While not every student on campus chooses to drink, SWARM provides an opportunity for all students to learn what the size of an actual drink is, campus policies, laws about drinking, how to help, and helpful strategies to assist individuals who are in possible danger.

The UofR strives to create a community that fosters open and respectful discussion of difficult topics. Whether you identify as a religious, queer Latina, a white male non-believer from a rural town, or a multi-racial, International deaf student -- whatever unique combination of experiences comprise who you are-- our identities are complex and multifaceted. Come listen to the stories of several UofR students who will share their narratives about the ways in which their various identities have positively and negatively affected their college experience.
