EMFACT Objectives

• A fully developed easy-to-use well-documented energy, materials, & chemicals use & associated costs tracking tool

• Well-developed training support materials & user’s guide to support the implementation of the tool

• Online downloadable free access to the software application as well as the training materials & user’s guide

EMFACT Expectations

• EHS & other staff & managers using & implementing the tool in their businesses, institutions, & agencies; experiencing more informed & effective decision-making concerning energy, materials, & chemical use

• Well-trained assistance providers in the public & private sector able to effectively evaluate energy, materials, & chemicals use & releases & their associated costs, & potential financial return on investment from prevention & sustainability activities

• Environmental efficiency results by users

Contractor

NEWMOA contracted with SYS Technologies to undertake the following :• Develop the first version of the

EMFACT software tool; a users’ guide, including a data dictionary & training support materials, which will be made available in a downloadable form for free online

• Work with NEWMOA & MA OTA to support the testing of a beta version of the EMFACT tool & fix any bugs or problems & make modifications to ensure that the tool works properly 5

• Support NEWMOA in uploading the tool to its website

• Direct support for three pilot training workshops on the use of the tool, including development of training support materials

• Stage 1: Design of the EMFACT Tool

Current Status

• Wrapping up the System Requirements Specification (SRS) & the System Design Specification (SDS) (Stage 1)

• Have begun transition from EHSdesk™ core software modules:– Substance Tracking System (STS)– STS Fuel Burn (FB)– Site Information Management (SIM) Lite– Planning & Calendar Manager (PACmgr)

• Will begin formal EMFACT product development when SRS & SDS are finalized in June
