2020 Adirondack Runners Scholarship Recipients
THE ADIRONDACK RUNNERS Club seeks not only to promote running as a healthy life-
style choice among our local youth but also to identify and recognize individuals who
embody the spirit of running through the annual Scholarship Program. Although length
of running experience and level of achievement will be factors considered by the Schol-
arship Committee, substantial weight will also be given to the degree to which the ap-
plicant manifests the pleasure, benefits and unbridled joy of running. The specific
scholarship selection criteria include; financial need, community service, academic per-
formance, running achievements, commitment to running as demonstrated through a
written essay and membership in the Adirondack Runners Club.
This year, four graduating seniors were selected to receive a $500 scholarship from
the Adirondack Runners Scholarship Fund.

Last Minute Notes…….
Dear Reader,
If you are like me, you are anxious to get back to some kind of normal.
Thankfully the people in our area are making safe choices.
I want to congratulate all those who have been running virtual races.
Fortunately, it seems that running does not in itself pose any significant risks for
covid-19, and in fact is good exercise in this crazy time. Racing in crowded
fields is not possible, but non the less, unlike some team sports, we all can still
run safely.
Unfortunately, I just had rotator cuff surgery which is putting a damper on
my training, but walking and hiking have filled the void until I am back to regu-
lar running in a month or so.
In the meantime, the executive board has been making progress in updating
our web page. Hopefully they will be making it easier to register for races and
make membership payments on line.
We are hoping to be able to have a membership meeting soon, at a social
distance and masked. Till then, stay safe, wash your hands, and wear your
masks in public.
