PRESENTER BIOGRAPHYMatt Cashion

Matt somehow graduated from Westminster College (Fulton, MO) with BA Degrees in Economics, Accounting, and Business Administration. He has been living out of the family insurance agency ever since. Even more remarkable, he obtained his CIC & CRM designations along the way.

Matt has been attending the NASBP Surety Schools for over twenty years. You would think by now he would have graduated. He pretends to be an instructor. When he can’t find a convention to attend at a nice resort, he tries to sell bonds and insurance to the unwitting, using cool new gadgets like an iPad.

Serving on NASBP’s Virtual Seminar Advisory Board, Matt made the mistake of suggesting this topic and was quickly duped into being a presenter. He has no IT experience other than as a crasher of systems. Proficient at Asteroids and PacMan, Matt has various online alter egos.

Nick chose to take 6 years to graduate from Concordia College (Moorhead MN), working and paying his own way and enjoying college life perhaps a little more than the dedicated student would choose. After selling books door-to-door one summer, he was able to convince a few surety companies to hire him. Jobless rate in the country might indeed have been a negative number back then, but he has somehow survived the surety industry for 23 years, spending 7 years on the company side with Western Surety and United Fire & Casualty, and the last 16 years on the surety agency side.

• Although he carries just a smidgen more of technology acumen than his co-instructor Matt Cashion, he was chosen to chair the Automation & Technology Committee, where he relies heavily upon Dave Golden, NASBP Technology Director, to make him look good and use the right words. Apparently half-sleeping through one of his own meetings, he somehow was corralled by Cashion to co-present this course. Matt would clean his clock in both Asteroids and Pac Man.

2012 Tablet Technology Survey Highlights Executive Summary

More than one-third (39%) of respondents rate their technical expertise a 3/5.

An overwhelming majority (81%) of respondents are operating Apple iOS (iPad, iPad 2, or “The New iPad”.)

Most agencies using Apple iOS-based tablet computers are using iPad 2's, released in 2011.

Nearly eight out of ten (79%) respondents said they connect to the internet using a data plan as opposed to using Wi-Fi.

More than half (52%) of all survey respondents rated their satisfaction with their tablet computer(s) a 5 out of 5, the highest rating. Over 90% of respondents responded with a 4 or 5 out of 5 when asked how happy they were with their wireless service provider.

The majority of respondents (65%) indicated they spent more than $65.01 (per device) on accessories for their tablet computers.
