6 The one who says he abides in Him ought

himself to walk in the same manner as He

walked.

Assurance of salvation comes from

believing in the Lord Jesus and living like

Him.

1 John 2:6

1. I can know that I am saved because I

have believed in the Lord Jesus

Christ.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is

born of God, and whoever loves the Father

loves the Child born of Him. 1 John 5:1

2. I can know that I am saved because I live like the Lord Jesus lived.

The one who says he abides in Him ought

a) The saved keep God’s commandments. –

1 John 2:3

b) The saved do not practice sin. - 1 John 3:9

c) The saved love others. - 1 John 3:14

d) The saved have victory over worldliness. -

1 John 5:4

3. I can know that I am saved because

God gives me the Holy Spirit.

By this we know that we abide in Him and He

in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

1 John 4:13

The one who keeps His commandments

abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this

that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He

has given us. 1 John 3:24

4. I can know that I am saved because of

God’s assuring love for me.

We have come to know and have believed the

love which God has for us. God is love, and the

one who abides in love abides in God, and God

abides in him. By this, love is perfected with

us, so that we may have confidence in the day

of judgment; because as He is, so also are we

in this world. 1 John 4:16-17

comfort!

• Assurance of salvation is the greatest

peace!

5. 1 John 5:10-12

The one who believes in the Son of God has

the testimony in himself; the one who does not

believe God has made Him a liar, because he

has not believed in the testimony that God has

given concerning His Son. And the testimony

is this, that God has given us eternal life, and

this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has

the life; he who does not have the Son of God

does not have the life.
