Can RRC help your business?

When it comes to developing skills within your business, one size does not fit all and different requirements are needed for different jobs. Completing our courses will give your employees the chance to develop skills in order to aid their functionality. What are the benefits from work based learning?

Employers will benefit fromImproved staff performance and motivation as well as an improvement in their customer service. It also gives the opportunity to make sure levels are up to a national standard. Employees will benefit fromRecognition of existing skills and have the opportunity to develop new skills during the process along with clearer understanding of their job responsibilities. All candidates will be allocated a personal Assessor & supplied with all the necessary reading and assessment material. The Assessor will provide personal tutorial support at pre-arranged times, candidates will also be assessed in the workplace using observation, witness testimonies and professional discussion. Please see pages 18-23 with details of work based courses and costs.

Romney Marsh Business Centre

Small businesses are vital for the economic growth of the Romney Marsh and with this in mind, partnerships formed through Romney Resource Centre with Magnox, The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Cavendish Fluor Partnership, Kent County Council and Shepway District Council creating the highly successful Business Centre.

The RMBC provides a service to people with viable business ideas and gives them the opportunity to bring them to life. By giving these new businesses the boost they need now, they have the potential to be successful employers across the Romney Marsh in the future.

There are many options available for business start-ups, please contact a member of staff for further information or to place you on the waiting list.

Our office spaces and hot desking facilities are here to help those who wish to start their own business, hot desking allows us to rotate the amount of clients we have wanting to use the facilities on a rota schedule, ensuring that everyone has a chance to use the facilities, whilst our office space allows for you to have a temporary “headquarters” for your business with the assets available to you.

ConferencesThe Romney Marsh Business Centre is located in the heart of the Romney Marsh, New Romney, Kent with Ashford and Folkestone just 20 minutes away.

The Centre is equipped to a high professional standard to ensure your event is successful, with full business and reception support, wireless connectivity, OHP, screen, flipcharts and a projector. There is disabled access throughout the building with ample off road parking available.

Room layouts can be arranged to suit your conference needs so whether it is an informal get together or a more formal event, we recognise that every event is different and our dedicated staff will ensure there is help and advice on hand.

A choice of freshly made buffet menus are available for delegates, with the provision of special dietary requirements available on request.

Under our Enhancing Apprenticeships Programme, we work with you to find your career. We offer our Steps to Success programme which enables you to get your CV to a high quality, learn how to apply for work and become a master at Interviews.

We can offer you the chance to improve your English, Maths and IT grades up to Level 2 in our all-inclusive learning environment, where you learn at your own pace in comfort supported by our tutors.

We have a team of qualified advisors to give you the careers advice you need, we support you to find work experience placements and are able to work with local employers to set up apprenticeships in the jobs you want. This programme is all about you, we work with you to find the job of your dreams and the support you receive is personalised to what you need.

Vocational Qualifications in Health & Social Care, Customer Services and Business Administration

If your aim is to get back into the workplace, or change direction in your employment then one of our fully funded pre-employment workshops will help to point you in the right direction.

Call 01797 367455 and book your personal one-to-one Advice and Guidance session, so that you can register on one or more of the following pre-employment workshops:

Create or update your CV Create a covering letter to a potential employer Intensive job search using the internet Job application form filling support Career planning

We are also linked with Partner Organisations who can offer specific training including Food Hygiene, Emergency First Aid, COSHH and Manual Handling.

Financial Support

If you are aged 16 to 18Young people aged 16 to 18 (under 19 on 31st August) will not be charged tuition fees or examination fees for the courses that they choose. Depending on your personal circumstances RRC’s bursary support may be able to assist you with travel costs.

If you are aged 19+If you are aged 19 or over on 31st August you may have to pay tuition fees however you may be eligible for concessions. Please refer to page 19 for further information.

Financial SupportAs a Charity it is RRC’s aim to ensure that every learner is able to study regardless of their financial position. If you enrol with RRC on a course we will work with you and arrange an affordable payment plan to suit your needs.

Advanced Learning LoanIf you are aged 19 or over on the 1st September and would like to join a Level 3 course, you may be eligible for the Advanced Learning Loan. You should be living in the UK and have lived in the UK for the three years prior to your course start date; proof of identification is also required (E.g. Passport). You can borrow from £300 and the loan is not dependent on your household income or a credit check. You will not have to pay back the loan until you have finished the course and you are earning £21,000 per year or more. For more information, please call 01797 367455

English & Maths

(Fully funded Maths and English qualifications)

Ranging from Entry Level 3 to Level 2 these qualifications can assist learners of all abilities.

For those who wish to improve or gain their Maths and English grades, these qualifications can further enhance your job prospects, give you the ability to keep up with your children or grandchildren or just to keep the brain matter in top condition.

RRC’s learning environment is set to suit your individual needs and abilities, with both home and centre based learning available. Every learner receives a personal tutor who will assist you on your learning journey, multiple sessions are run throughout the week and these are morning/afternoon and evening, suiting everyone’s requirements.

Learners are able to develop and demonstrate their skills and confidence in using English or Maths skills in practical situations. The qualification reflects the level of demand in the national standards set by both Colleges and Employers.

ECDL - IT User Skills Level 1 Award

The Level 1 course provides a base foundation in IT for those who are looking for a basic computer qualification. It is made up of a three units which have all been given a ‘credit value’. To obtain the Award you will need to complete all three units which together make a total of 9 credits.

Level 2 Certificate

The Level 2 course has been developed to give learners a more flexible approach to gaining their Level 2 qualification. It is made up of a mandatory unit plus optional units which have all been given a ‘credit value’ and to obtain the Certificate you will need to complete the mandatory unit plus optional units which together make a total of between 16 and 20 credits. A Flexiqual can be made up of any units from either level; however there are ‘rules of combination’ which must be followed which your tutor will discuss with you.

Health and Social Care Level 2 & 3

Designed for those Individuals working within the Health & Social Care sector, these qualification helps employees develop a clear understanding of their specific role and responsibilities and how to create a safe and healthy environment for themselves and those they care for. As well as covering issues such as equality, discrimination and communication skills, it will ensure your employees can deliver an excellent level of care and that their skills and achievements are acknowledged with a national recognised qualification.

The Level 2 qualification is aimed at Care Assistants, Support workers or Key workers while the Level 3 qualification is aimed at those employees within a senior role. Both qualifications are relevant when working in following areas:

Day services Residential settings Community-based Domiciliary services Supported living projects Acute health environments Community and primary care environments Personal assistants employed directly by the individual they

support or their families Emerging new types of workers and multidisciplinary health

roles crossing traditional service barriers and delivery models

A skills scan will be carried out by an Assessor to ensure that the correct level of qualification is chosen for your job role. They will also discuss the mandatory and optional units available checking that your current job meets the qualification standards required.

Business Administration Level 2 & 3 Business and Administration Level 2 Certificate

This qualification provides evidence of competence of being in a supporting role in an office environment. In order to achieve the qualification you must complete the four mandatory units and a number of optional units which will be selected at the enrolment session.

The mandatory units are: Work in a business environment Communicate in a business environment Manage own performance in a business environment Improve own performance in a business environment Optional units provide opportunity to show understanding

and skills in a variety of areas.

Business and Administration Level 3 Diploma

The Level 3 qualification is aimed at people who currently negotiate, supervise, manage and contribute to the running of an office. In order to achieve the qualification you must complete the four mandatory units, and a number of optional units which will be selected at the enrolment session.

The mandatory units are: Work in a business environment Communicate in a business environment Manage own performance in a business environment Evaluate and improve own performance in a business

environment

There are a wide range of optional units available for both levels, which will allow students to tailor the qualification to their job role.

Customer Services Level 2

The OCR Level 2 Customer Service Certificate provides evidence of competence of being in a customer service role.

It is suitable for candidates who: Whose role is to provide service to customers Who are working in a customer service environment Have particular customer service and administrative job

roles

To achieve the qualification candidates must complete two mandatory units and a number of optional units which will be selected with their assessor.

The Mandatory units are: Follow the rules to deliver customer service Communicate using customer service language

There are a wide range of optional units available, which allows you to tailor the qualification to your role, including:

Resolve customer service problems Recognise diversity when delivering customer service Develop personal performance through delivering customer

service Give your customers a good impression of yourself and your

organisation

Romney Resource Centre’s mission continues to be known both locally and nationally for its excellence in providing ‘outstanding’ learning opportunities and employment solutions within a vibrant and inclusive experience, leading to recognised qualifications and outcomes that contribute to personal development, the economic growth and social well-being of our community.

Established in 1994, a registered charity, RRC has developed an impressive and collaborative network of partners with whom we work with in support of our community and business training activities, enabling RRC to support a range of participants aged 14 to 80 years of age at all levels for personal and professional development.

RRC works with local employers and aims to raise awareness of the importance of skills development and training. This helps employers to develop their business through the retention of qualified staff increasing productivity.

RRC is able to provide different modes of delivery (in the work place and at RRC’s delivery centres) via the unique nature of tutor-led, face-to-face and online learning, enabling learners to take responsibility for learning and to achieve realistic targets that they set for themselves and their employers.

RRC works in partnership with a number of national and regional organisations including Education & Skills Funding Agency, FE Colleges, CXK, Magnox, Shepway District Council, Rye Partnership, Romney Marsh Partnership, and Kent County Council to name but
