Safety Share-Four Wheeler Maintenance/Repair

- Possible water introduced into fuel system- Home repair instead of qualified repair man- Lack of knowledge on the repairing of Four Wheeler- Owner believes he has the knowledge for repair- Introduce the use of tobacco (Cigars)- Possible out comes

• Four Wheeler is repaired with little or no cost to owner• Four Wheeler is not repaired/qualified repairmen needed• Owner sets four wheeler, house and/or himself on fire

Transportation Accomplishments

One project in particular had its own unique obstacles. ICP Packaging and Transportation helped in coordinating ten shipments of Transuranic Waste from the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project (AMWTP) for treatment.

Transportation Coordination!

LANL responsible to load the waste containers into the 10-160B and ship the cask to the INL- using WIPP protocols.

ICP responsible to unload the cask, transport the TRU waste containers to AMWTP (onsite TSD shipment with road closure- 10 CFR 830); and ship the empty cask back to LANL.

AMWTP responsible to receive the CMB waste package, process non-conforming items (e.g., aerosol cans), and following repackaging ship the LANL CH-TRU to WIPP- in less than six months.

Other Transportation Accomplishments

Notable shipment accomplishments included:

60 hazardous waste shipments 12 low-level waste shipments 36 mixed low level waste shipments 96 radioactive sample shipments by air, often with subsidiary

hazards, for laboratory analysis Shipments of spent nuclear fuel to various locations across the

United States and to Austria.

Transportation Going Forward

CH2M-WG, Idaho (CWI) Waste Management (WM) organization continued to advance the cleanup mission by safely characterizing, packaging and shipping hundreds of cubic meters of hazardous, radioactive , and mixed low level waste offsite for treatment and/or disposal.

In FY16 an ICP-III contract is expected to be awarded; the DOE Environmental Management (EM) work will continue and combine the AMWTP with ICP!
