Nominations are very simple: Download the AE-Nomination Form (a PDF form) from http://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/Nominations (the page shown below) and follow the rules described there.

1.12 Honours and Awards (Only mention major awards; max. 20; do not mention best paper awards or fellowships that one gets if one just pays a membership fee; list one per line, preceded by the yearwhen award was obtained, last awards first). The awards should include for example, election to National Academies (category of membership/fellowship); major prizes (not normal research grants) and similar honours that recognise academic performance; honorary degrees. Major ERC awards can be cited.

This is a simplified authorization form. Note that two ordinary members mustpropose a candidate (this exludes foreign members) and one must be in a country different from the one of the candidate.

The further procedure is explained at the bottom of the nomination form:

Please make sure to store the form with the information you have filled out on your computer!

Once the nominators have filled out all obligatory fields (those with an *)and are satisfied with the nomination, the first nominator should mail it as attachment to the address [email protected]

When the mail arrives, the forms are checked by a program for completeness. If obligatory fields are missing, or are too short or too long, the sender will receive a list of items that still have to be changed. If the form is complete, it will be automatically (a) sent to the section chair and (b) it will be automatically uploaded into http://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/Forums/Nominationsto which authorized members have access.

If a nomination also concerns another section, let the section chair know: (s)he can communicate with the chair of the other section concerned. If after consultation it is decided to shift the nomination from onesection to another section, [email protected] should be contacted to carry out this shift.

Nominations can be submitted using above form between Oct.1, 2011 and April 30, 2012. Ranked lists of all candidates in their section have to be submitted to the Chair of the Nomination Committee and the Executive Secretary by June 15, 2012.

Access to a nomination is authorized for: --- the two nominators--- all section committee members of the section involved--- all nomination committee members, board members, the president and the executive secretary after May 1, 2012.

All nominations can be printed out as is in new system, but you can also usethe button „ „Show printer-friendly version“.“ PDFs of all nominations are sent to HQ first half of May 2012 if HQ wants to keep up this procedure.

How to access a nomination:

Log in (see the often mentioned page http://www.ae-info.org/ae/Acad_Main/Nominationsif you have forgottten how to do so).

Now go to the main page www.ae-info.org . Click at the buttom „Forums“. On the new page appearing click at „Nominations“ (left lower corner). Next, select your section. You will see the list of candidates, but you can accesstheir nomination dossiers only if authorized, as explained on the previous page.

If authorized, the dossier can be printed out (recommendation: click at the „Show printer-friendly version“ button first) but note that nominations can change till April 30, 2012.
