Security Situation Update

• CA assessments continue at a pace commensurate with the local security conditions

• KU and US military state, traveling to Iraq entails risk– Close interaction with HOC prior to departure is highly

recommended to ensure receipt of the most recent security updates

• Paramilitary forces continue to pose threat to HA activities

• Report of DCs near An Nasiriyah information– Complied with CA suggestion to return home

• Reports of 1K-2K DCs near Basra– Returned to city following attack by paramilitary– No confirmation of casualties– Others leave city to get aid and then return

• Sources report cholera outbreak in S. Iraq– Al Basrah and As Sulaymaniyah Governates– Related to water supply in the area
