Patsy was eleven years old yesterday.

Her uncle gave her a camera for a birthday present.

She asked her uncle how to use it.

‘There are two things to remember, Patsy,’ he said. ‘First, you must make sure the focusfocus is correct.’
Correct focus: The picture is clear.

‘Tell me how I do that,’ Patsy said.
‘You look through the lens,’ her uncle explained. ‘Then you move the lens until the picture is clear.’
He showed her how to turn the lens.

‘The camera checks the light,’ her uncle said. ‘If there isn’t enough light a red light comes on. Press that button until the light goes out.’

‘I think I understand,’ Patsy said.

The first photograph Patsy took was of her friends.
Then she asked her uncle to take one of her with her friends.

Her uncle noticed that something was wrong. ‘Ah yes. I forgot to tell you about the second thing you must remember. You must put a firm in the camera.
