School and Sports Physicals!

This year IACH will have limited ability to accommodate school and sports physicals due to furlough and budget constraints. We are doing

all we can to accommodate all requests, but these hints may help!

1) School Physicals are only required once, upon entry to the Kansas School System.

-If you use school physicals as a yearly physical for your healthy child, you may consider waiting until the school year has started so those

that need a physical in order to start school can get in.

-if you need a school physical and cannot get in here at IACH, school physicals are a TRICARE covered benefit and can be done at any

facility that accepts TRICARE. Be advised some of these facilities may involve co-pay.

2) Sports Physicals are only needed if your child or teen will be participating in sports with your school district or with Child Youth

Services.

-Sports physicals are NOT a TRICARE-covered benefit but can be obtained for a minimal fee in the local community.

------------------------

The following are just some options available through agencies in the community:

Konza Prairie Community Health Clinic 361 Grant Ave, Junction City 238-4711

- School physical - will bill TRICARE

- Must bring forms and shot records

the local MTF was handling the referrals) If a Family member receives a referral, please wait to receive the referral letter in the mail before

making the appointment. If you make the appointment before getting the letter, it may result in a medical bill that you are not expecting.

*The letter has been reformatted and is much easier to read

*Urgent issues can go to the referral office to get the letter printed

*Routine referrals could take up to 5 days to get in the mail and then the mail delivery time is added to that

*Providers are faxed a copy of the referral and may receive it before the patient

*Referrals for issues that are not chronic are good for 180 days

*Referrals for chronic issues are good for 365 days
