Commander’s Corner

FRG Corner

Dear C Troop Families, During the month of October, the weather began to get colder in the Fort Drum area and C Troop remained busy with training. After returning from NTC, the Troop quickly moved into maintenance and inventories for the change of command. The Troop conducted an Army Physical Fitness Test and, after the change of command, began a se-ries of ranges. The month of October also saw a significant number of C Troop soldiers at schools. The month of November will continue with more training. Also during the month of November, there are several long weekends that should provide everyone an opportu-nity to spend time with family and enjoy some well-deserved time off.

Captain Sider

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the October FRG meeting. It was great to see so many of you! We appreciate your feedback from the anonymous surveys, and will use the information you provided to improve our FRG. We are excited for the future and upcoming fundraisers, events, and meetings we have planned to finish out the year. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. We have more information to share with you, as well as a great fund raising opportunity. Please bring your canned goods to the meeting for donation, as November 16th is the last day of our collection. Thank you to those who have already donated! Please feel free to continue to contact us if you need assistance!

Please see the print version of the newsletter or contact your key caller or FRG Leaders for details regarding our November meeting.

1. New People Cpt. Sider is the new CO for C Troop; SFC Bruce is the new First Sergeant; Jill and Cat are the new FRG Leaders.

2. Canned Goods & Toy Drive Instead of a holiday party, the FRG will be coordinating two community service events. For November, we will be doing a canned goods/non-perishable foods drive. Goods can be brought in to 1SG Bruce, no later than November 16th. For December, we will be collecting toys to donate to the Mountain of Toys giveaway on Fort Drum. Toys can be brought in to 1SG Bruce, no later than December 8th.

3. Recycling Drive All troops are participating in a recycling drive as a unit fundraiser. Bring in depositable bottles and cans (must say NY 5 cents on it) to the bins in the TOF and squadron buildings. Every donation received helps defray future event expenses.

4. Mountain of Toys This program is sponsored by the Sergeants Major Association and Boy Scout Troop 26. It benefits families who meet the outlined criteria of financial hardship. Applications must be submitted by November 30th.

5. Welcome Packet This packet contains a wealth of information pertaining to Ft. Drum and the surrounding areas. Whether you have been here for years or are brand new, there is something for everyone!
