Objective Understand the rankings of leaders in TNTT

and purpose/responsibility of each level.

Fact Finding One of the characteristics that distinguishes TNTT from other youth organizations is its comprehensive training programs. All members of TNTT are divided into groups depending on age, maturity, and level of education. Each group, from Ấu Nhi cấp 1 to Huấn Luyện Viên Cao Cấp, has clearly defined curriculum and training program. This lesson focuses on the levels of leaders in TNTT.

Leader (Huynh Trưởng)Scarf: Red with Yellow stripe. All Leaders wear the same scarf, but level 2 and 3 Leaders also wears patches above the right shirt pocket into indicate level and area of expertise.

Level 1 Leader – Level-1-Leaders are members of TNTT who have spent time as an Assistant Leader, completed a training camp, and are actively participating in their respective Doans. They are the basic leaders of each doan. A Level-1-Leader has the main responsibility of planning his/her lesson and teaching it to TNTT students.

Level 2 Leaders – Level 2 Leaders are experienced HTs with strong leadership skills. There are 3 separate training camps for Level 2 Leaders, one for each age group. Level-2-Leaders are more specialized and focused on one age group. They not only plan and teach lessons but also direct other HTs.

Every age group is ideally divided into many sub-groups, called “branch”. For example, all 14 year old/9th grade Nghĩa Sĩ would make up one branch, all 15 year olds/10th graders make up another, etc. Level 2 Leaders usually play the role of a Branch Director. They work with their Age Group Director (ngành trưởng) to develop a long-term curriculum and special activities for their branch, coordinate the efforts of other leaders to plan detailed lessons, and perform administrative duties.

Level 3 Leaders – Level 3 Leaders are those who are trained to lead an entire age group or doan. Level 3 Leaders work on broader and more long-term goals for their age group/doan. For example, a Level 3 Leader serving as a Group Director will make decisions concerning which lesson topics should be taught. He/she would also plan special events such as a retreats or a Team Captain training camps.

Often times, Level 3 Leaders serve on the Group Executive Cabinet (such as President or VP). In this case, a Level 3 Leaders must not only direct other leaders, but also be able to maintain a good relationship with parents, members of the Parish Council, and the Chaplain or Pastor. Level 3 Leaders are trained in many areas including Leadership, Lesson Planning, Project Management Planning, Public Relation skills, Planning/Directing Special Events, etc.

Trainers – Scarf – Purple. The number of stripes (up to 3) indicate the level.

Primary Trainer. Leaders teach TNTT members, trainers teach leaders. Anyone who wishes to become a leader must attend a training camp and successfully complete all of his/her assignments. A Primary Trainer has the duty of researching new topics and teaching methods to better train Leaders.

Intermediate TrainerIntermediate Trainers also teach Leaders at training camps, but they often hold more critical positions. Intermediate Trainers are usually Camp Masters (in charge of every aspect of a training camp) or Lesson Directors (decides which lesson should be taught and the content of each lesson). Outside of training camps, Intermediate Trainers research and make

recommendations to the National Council on how to revise/improve various aspects of TNTT from administration (TNTT policies and regulations) to Research and Training (longterm Curriculum for Students and Leaders).

Master TrainerEvery organization needs to have direction. TNTT is no exception and needs to know what steps need to be taken to improve the experience for members and to further its goal. Master Trainers are a core group of TNTT leaders who advise and decide on TNTT’s direction. They research new areas that may benefit TNTT and make recommendations on how to implement it. Trainers at all levels do some research in new areas to improve TNTT, but it is the Master Trainers who lead and supervise this effort.

Summary TNTT is unique because its training program

is so comprehensive, with specific stages and rankings.

Each ranking has carries with it more authority and more responsibilities

There is plenty of room for growth (it could take decades to reach Master Trainer) in TNTT, and it is our duty to continue improving ourselves so we can better serve TNTT and its members.
